Chapter 2: Route 1, Part 2
Tag Team!
… and all of a sudden, a click. The Pokéball stopped shaking, and the Nidoran was finally caught. "Yes!" Ana cried out in joy.
"Woopah!" the Wooper imitated her gleefully jumping up and down next to her.
"Alright then…" Ana wondered while she walked up to the Pokéball, picked it up, and threw it back out to examine her first ever capture.
"Nido… hmph!" the Nidoran the Nidoran huffed, it was obviously hurt by the fact that it had been captured so easily
"What? Come on are you seriously going to give attitude too? God!" Whatever though, I need to make it to Beginroot Town as soon as possible! "Hey, you don't get ANY say in the matter… Donny… after all, you just lost to Woopy, and she's a girrl" Ana made sure to slur the r in girl to give it more of a dramatic, and insulting effect. She knew how to get guys frustrated, and THIS guy was definitely some type of Machoran.
"Nii?!" the Nidoran's (Donny apparently) reaction was very similar to Woopy's first reaction to her own nickname. A sudden wheez, followed by the reaction to Ana's insult about losing to a girl, upon which hearing, Donny bit his lower lip, and let go of a couple tears in a comical fashion.
"Hehe!" Woopy gave off a malicious laugh at her new teammate's reaction, sure, it sucked for him and she understood first-hand, but it's always fun to see someone else's suffering.
This action though, was returned with a glare from Donny in a very [I will take this chance to travel the world and become stronger than anyone else… including you] kind of way.
"Anyways, let's go… it's starting to get late." Ana said with a calm expression as she withdrew both Woopy and Donny back to their Pokéballs. "Alright then," she said as she refilled her water bottle once more, and proceeded to mount her bike and continue on the road to reach Beginroot Town. The terrain was VERY rugged, and even though it was a mountain bike, Ana's clumsiness had caused it to get more than a couple dents and scratches. My brother's gonna kill me, she thought as she made her way back into the road heading eastward. She quickly reached a four-way intersection in the middle of the road, but continued straight… she already knew the way.
. . . . . . . . . .
It had again been a couple hours before being able to see Beginroot Town in the horizon. "Finally! I'm almost there!" Ana told herself exhausted and relieved. It's been a while I guess, she thought as the familiar sight became bigger sitting at the line which separates the Earth from the Sky.
"Stop right there!" a childish and unfamiliar voice demanded. "In order to access the great Beginroot Town, you must first pay the toll!"
What the?… "Who's there!" Ana demanded. This is definitely just a joke!
"I am the great… Kevin, Pokémon Master of Beginroot Elementary!" a mysterious kid who had just popped out of some bushes stated with an over-confident smirk painted on his face. "If you…"
"Get out of the way" Ana replied bluntly. She had no time for this sort of infantile pranks.
"I see you are in disagreement with the toll…" Kevin said calmly with an air of superiority. "Very well then, thou shalt taste the power of the Guardian of Beginroot Town!" upon finishing his statement, Kevin sent out both a Pidgey and a Rattata. "Prepare to fight!"
"Look… I really don't have time for this, maybe some other day, okay?" Ana said trying to get herself out of this uncomfortable situation.
"No can do, the rules must be followed, and you are to pay the toll of entrance, OR PAY THE CONSEQUENCES!" the kid said boastfully.
"Alright then, go Woopy, Donny, beat this kid up!" Ana said while simultaneously sending out her two Pokémon. "Also, before we get this started…" she mentioned while searching through her bag for something… Aha! "…my Pokédex!"
"*pokemonelite2000 image removed*Rattata, the Mouse Pokémon. Small, very quick, and cautious in the extreme, this Pokémon is constantly listening to its surroundings by moving its ears around; it also gnaws on several things to keep its teeth from becoming too long, and can eat virtually anything. This Pokémon reproduces continuously, and it is said that if one is spotted, 40 others are sure to be around. And, *pokemonelite2000 image removed*Pidgey, the Tiny Bird Pokémon. Commonplace and very docile, wild Pidgeys tend to use techniques such as whirlwinds, or flappin or kicking up sand to avoid conflict. If disturbed, however, they can ferociously strike back!"
"Ha! Getting scared already!?" the over-confident kid said, "I'll show you true power; Pidgey, Rattata, first strike wins let's go! Quick Attack and Tackle!"
Kevin's two Pokémon charged at Ana's with amazing speed and determination. Ana was definitely shocked. "Damn, counter you guys! Woopy with Water Gun, and Donny use…"
The kid's Pidgey didn't even have a chance to try and get out of the way, and it took the blast of water fully in mid-charge, but Rattata was too fast for both Donny and Ana, and it was able to down Donny with a powerful hit to the side. Damn! She thought. "Woopy help out Donny use another Water Gun against that Rattata!"
"Woop!" her Pokémon agreed and sent another powerful blast against the mouse Pokémon. As soon as the Rattata was off of him though, Donny came charging full speed at Wooper. "Woop?!"
"Wait, Donny no!…" she hadn't finished her sentence when Donny was already in hitting distance from Woopy. Woopy, scared, closed her eyes and tried to cover herself by turning around. What? Why are you doing this Donny?!
"No!!!" Kevin screamed frustrated. As soon as she heard this, Ana realized what was going on; Donny jumped. He was airborne, directly over Woopy, who was also surprised by not having felt an impact, but the most surprised was the Pidgey, who had been instructed to use Rattata's distraction to attack Woopy from behind. "Dodge Pidgey!!!" but it was already too late. Nidoran's horn incrusted itself deep in the Pidgey from the strong impact of both Pokémon, and the tiny bird Pokémon simply fell on the floor, unconscious, and deeply hurt. If Donny wasn't so young, the venom would probably have the strength to kill it.
"Nido!" Donny said with a stern expression. He was breathing heavily since it wasn't his first OR second fight today, and in that last attack his body went into an anaerobic state, and now, the lactic acid and lack of oxygen was eating away at his muscles.
"Kid!" Ana called the shocked Kevin. "Your Pidgey is deeply hurt, it'll be better if we take it to the closest Pokémon Center; I can help you get there."
"No!" the kid interrupted violently, while recalling Pidgey to its Pokéball. "Don't pity me… You're the one who hurt Pidgey, and Rattata and me are gonna make you pay!"
Ana was shocked by the sincere feelings and anger of the kid in front of her. "Sorry, but as much as I feel sorry for you, I cannot allow you to do that. You're still young, you have no chance against me" she continued, "… not only do my Pokémon seem more powerful, now I have a numbers advantage, and the mental capacity advantage over you as well. You're about ten years too early."
The kid was shocked by the sudden analysis, but his response was: "Does it look like I care about what you think? Rattata, Quick Attack! Destroy that Nidoran!"
"Rattataaaa!" both master and Pokémon were at the brink of tears. Their relationship was strong, but they lacked the power.
"Donny, Woopy, use a Leer and Tail Whip combination!" Ana's voice was calm, her eyes settled, and her heart a bit disturbed. Why is he trying so hard? She thought. The attack was definitely effective, not only on the Pokémon, but the trainer himself too! Tears escaped both of their eyes, and Rattata charged even faster than before, it was determined to used an all or nothing attack! "Donny, dodge." at the sudden command, Donny took a step forward, and just as both Pokémon were about to collide, he jumped. Rattata was going too fast to react to the attack, and slid underneath him, looking up in awe at his foe's underbelly. "Woopy… finish it." Woopy followed her command just as well as Donny, and used one last powerful blast of water that sent Rattata flying in a weird angle. The battle is over. We've become stronger.
Kevin fell to his knees as he recalled his second Pokémon, but this time he couldn't keep it in, and began to sob uncontrollably. Maybe, I should wait for him to get better before going home?
