Chapter 3: Beginroot Town, Part 2
(Ooc: sorry for taking so long to post, I had terrible writer's block :nervous:)
The Firewoman
Wait.
"That's a Rattata" Emilio said a little confused
"I KNOW THAT!" Ana barked back at him, but what is that thing doing with me, and where is Woopy?
"Alright then, I was seriously expecting something else to be called Woopy, but if you say that's your Pokémon, then I don't have a reason to hold back. Quilava start out with Smokescreen!"
"Damn, Donny, Rattata, get out of there!" both Pokémon ran away in different directions from the 'smokebomb' that Emilio's Quilava had shot right before it exploded, "alright then Rattata use your Quick Attack, and Donny use Peck!" Right after the 'ball' exploded, both Pokémon ran towards Quilava from its two sides…
"Quilava jump and use Ember… now!" Right as Quilava jumped, Rattata was too close to change directions and slid past it, burning its feet with the flames left by Ember. "Now use Fire Wheel against the Nidoran!"
"No! Donny get out of there!" but Donny disobeyed, instead he stopped right in his track and closed his eyes, and took a deep breath. The little rocks below him started to shake, and the sand to fly away from his body.
"Focus Energy. Like meditation for humans, the user takes a deep breath, and focuses its energy in one point of its body. The use of this technique can increase the effectiveness of a Pokémon's attack, and help it withstand strong hits."
Right as Quilava was about to hit Donny with the Flame Wheel, Donny kneeled down, lifted his head, and used his hind legs to jump. This movement gave the Nidoran the advantage of passing underneath the bigger opponent, and using its movement to get it off-balance and land a powerful Peck. "Nido!" he celebrated after seeing the stronger Quilava cringe in pain, and fall to the floor on its side, the flames subsiding. Down.
"Yes! You're awesome Donny, I knew I could count on you!"
"If you think that's all, you're in for a big surprise sister" Emilio said completely unfazed by the Nidoran's creativity. "Quilava use Ember on that rat again"
"Quil" the Pokémon replied as it started shaking its head and launching flames at the small Pokémon.
"Tataa!" the Rattata yelped as it tried to dodge the oncoming flames futilely. "Raaatt" it cried as the flames of the stronger Pokémon hit it.
"Rattata, Donny, fall back!" Ana cried desperately. Donny was still fine, but she was surprised that Rattata was even standing anymore. "I'm sorry Rattata, I know it'll be hard for you, but I need you to trust me completely if we want to defeat my brother, okay?"
"Rat!" the Rattata consented and turned around facing the Quilava besides Donny.
"Ready guys? I'm gonna need to completely rely on your speed for this one okay Donny?" Ana told her Pokémon, just loud enough for them to hear her.
"Doran!" he consented as Rattata had, facing the fire Pokémon and focusing all of his energy to his legs.
"So you're finally done chit-chatting, huh?" Emilio said with a grin, and joked: "How was the tea party?"
"Alright, GO!" The two Pokémon shot off towards the Quilava in front of them in the same manner as the first time, Rattata again being quicker due to the use of his energy in Quick Atack. "Do it now, Rattata" the signal was weak, but with the strong hearing senses of both Rattata and Donny, the slight sound was more than loud enough. At the signal, Rattata stopped right on his tracks instead of completing the attack.
"Awww, you're conversation skills get worse over time sister. Use Ember Quilava!" the attack that Ana had started was fast… too fast, and Emilio didn't notice the Nidoran's similar speed. As a result, just as Quilava was preparing his Ember attack, it got shanked on its side with Donny's fierce horn. "When did…?"
"Quilavaaa!!!" the Pokémon cried in pain as it backed up towards its trainer. "Quil… quil" it begged asking for something, probably advise.
"Don't worry Quilava, she doesn't know half of our strength yet, are you still okay to go pal?" there were two important statements for Ana in this conversation. Number one, apparently Emilio still has a trick under his sleeve, and number two… that Quilava is male.
"Just like you, huh?" Ana asked in a confident manner "Keeping the good stuff for last, what are you counting on that makes you so certain that you'll win?"
"Haha" he laughed at the comment. "Do you really feel that way, I mean sure, I always have a surprise or two, perhaps that's why I can relate so much to Quilava here. Have you ever heard of: Abilities?"
"What?"
"You know abilities, for example your Nidoran over there, I would bet half of my money that his ability is Rivalry, which makes him fight harder against male Pokémon, and that Rattata over there, he's got Guts huh? Please tell me if I'm right?" he finished with a wink.
"Well," Ana started, "… I don't know"
"WHAT!?" Emilio screamed visibly confused. "See? This is exactly why I say you just don't got it in you, for me, simple observation was more than enough to notice, but you… you don't even know your own Pokémon… let's finish this fast then, Quilava!" At the sound of its name, the Quilava's flames suddenly lit up even stronger than before, and the air around him started to burn, retracting light and causing a mirage-like effect in the air. "You obviously don't know this, but my Quilava's ability is called Blaze, and the more you damage him, the stronger he becomes."
"Quilava!" the Pokémon added as if affirming what Emilio had just said.
"No. I'll prove you wrong Rattata, Nidoran…"
"Fire Spin!" Emilio interrupted her. Quilava's flames grew even larger than before and he turned into a circle, then he attacked the other two Pokémon directly by flipping against them. "I'll defeat you here and then we can go home."
"HEY! What's going on here!?" Quilava suddenly stopped his attack to look over at the oncoming Nurse Joy.
"Rattata!"
"Doran!" Both Pokémon cried and successfully connected a Peck/Tackle combo against the distracted Quilava.
"Quiiil!" the Pokémon yelled out as he fell back in pain.
"I won???" Ana couldn't believe it. "Yes, I won!" she jumped in joy, and was amazingly happy until she looked over at Nurse Joy who was frantically trying to call someone.
"Oh my God, the forest's on fire!" she yelled out.
No way. Did Emilio cause this? Ana looked over horrified at the spreading fire.
"Anaaa!" she heard a familiar voice all of a sudden, "Anaaa!" the childish voice repeated.
It's Kevin! "Where are you?!" she yelled out scared that he might be trapped in the fire.
"Right behind you"
What?
"I came here with Nurse Joy as soon as we saw the fire from the town" he said panting. "I don't think they've seen it in the Police Station though since it's all the way in the Town's square. Also, by any chance would you happen to have my Rattata? Here's Woopy" he finished extending a Pokéball to Ana.
"Thanks" she said light-heartedly as she received the Pokéball from Kevin. "Wait. The fire! Go Woopy! Use your Water Gun on the fire!"
"PAAAHHH!!!" the Pokémon cried as it shot water at the fire… but the move failed at calming the fire.
Why? Why won't the water work? "Of course! Woopy, go in there and stop the fire with Mud Sport!"
"Woop!" the Pokémon agreed before it was stopped by Emilio.
"Are you crazy!? There's no way that'll work. Don't you know that the fire could kill your Pokémon by drying up her body moisture? If you're not competent enough, don't even attempt to help, you'll only get in the way!"
"I'm not going to stand here and do nothing though! I'm not like you, it's not my style to mess up and not do anything about it!" she complained to her brother indignantly. But Emilio just ignored her. Damn you, "Woopy, we need to figure something out… just use your Water Gun in the meantime to keep the fire down until help comes!"
"Woop" the Wooper charged up as usual blowing up her cheeks…
"Tche. That won't work woman, can't you realize it! You'll only get in the…" he stopped after turning around and seeing his sister's hopeless expression. Are you crying? He thought.
This time, Woopy was acting differently though, pumping her cheeks two more times after the initial one. "PAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!" she cried out, shooting a jet stream of… Mud???
"Mud Shot, a ground-type move where a Pokémon hurls mud at an opponent. The sticky mixture of ground and water also reduces the opponent's speed." The Pokédex suddenly explained with it's electronic voice.
The attack was not only bigger and stronger than the former Water Gun, but the substance itself (mud) was able to capture the fire, and put it out better. In a matter of seconds, the fire was gone.
