Member fanclubs are miniature DCCs in their own right. Sure, the discussion's a bit skewed towards the member in question, but still, member fanclubs are just as every bit as random as the DCC. The only major difference is that posts no longer count here.

No, that's not what they're for, and member fanclubs don't add to your post count anymore because of what you just said.
