The Pokemon Animation/Art thread! 8D

Well, it took me a long time to return to the PC. Gotta revive this thread before it passes the "1 month" mark.

It shocks me to no end on how mercilessly greedy the studio producing the Pokemon anime is. These people make a "big name" show, garner tons of money, yet still keep their animation third-rate (yes, you heard me. Not second-rate, third rate). Even other long-running "kiddy" shows such as Doraemon are a few steps ahead of the animation in Pokemon. No I'm not asking the Pokemon anime to have animation quality like Lucky Star but with the grotesque profits they are making, the studio can more than afford to hire better animators for the show and maybe earn more respect from the public in general. This could even raise their profits in the long run. But nooooooo, they have to manufacture every episode as if it was some college animation lesson (or maybe that's what the episodes are???? o_o) so they can maximize their profits in the short run.

I see no difference between Lucky Star and Pokemon's typical animation for a movie.

Anyways, even though Pokemon doesn't have one of the best animations, it has a rather unique style which must count for something. Death Note, Bleach, Yu-Gi-OH, are all marriginally better in animation simply because they're serious. WIth Pokemon, since it's so goofy the animation can easily reflect that and doesn't have to be so serious, which means that the animation quality can be a bit less.

However, the guy who aniumated the Cacnea fairwell episodes(Takeda) needs to leave right now. He's jsut terrible.

Indeed. He was also responsible for the worst-drawn episode in the whole of D/P (IMO), DP 83, the Pastoria Gym Battle episode. Boy, the only reason I was able to tolerate the art was because the battle was incredibly awesome.
