Update #2 - The one where the band got back together. Mostly. Also where I abuse the strikethrough tag.

• Starting from Azalea Town, and here we go~
• Decided to use my starter as my first HM slave, since why not. Guess my starter choice works out there since I can use it for Water-type HMs later. I could also evolve it for Rock Smash.
• Aries stomped through Ilex Forest and Route 34 due his ridiculous level by this point.
• Caught Cancer (Krabby, lv10) while fishing at Route 34
• Defeated Whitney with less problems than expected. Far too stall-y for my liking, though. dat Miltank.
• Earned some points at the Pokeathlon for a Fire Stone down the line. Though, looking at Growlithe's learnset, that'll be way down the line.
• Caught Leo (Growlithe, lv13) while progressing through Route 36
• Defeated Rival Silver at Burned Tower. That was definitely easier now that I have a semblance of a team. (Fire, Water... Electric core?)
• Also released the Legendary Beasts as the game requires since I was curious about the Burned Tower basement.
• Morty was more difficult than expected, regardless of Leo having Bite. He was finally defeated after getting some luck with sleep turns.
• Completely forgot that I could have picked up my next member at this point - backtracked to Goldenrod and picked up Libra (Eevee, lv5)

You should do what I did and use the pokedex on pokemondb.net/pokedex and select heart gold. That will show you all the sprites of those available in your game. Hope this helps

Ok time for an update.
I've gotten all eight Johto Badges and beaten the Elite Four with just Shirayuki (Glaceon) and Angewomon (Gardevoir). I'm going to be getting some of the Pokemon that I've missed because at the moment I've only got Shirayuki. Also I was needed to stop a scheme concocted by Team Rocket to take over the Safari Zone. Helping me with stopping them were five Trainers from Sinnoh: Mira, Buck, Cheryl, Marley and Riley. Riley actually gave me a Pokemon Egg as a reward.

-Received the S.S. Ticket from Prof. Elm
-Rode to Cherrygrove City, stored Angewomon and withdrew Staraptor, Feraligatr and the Pokemon Egg
-Flew to Azalea Town and answered a few questions a Juggler in the Pokemon Center asked me so I could get Ryujin the Torchic (M, Lv.15)
-Gave Ryujin the EXP. Share
-Flew to Goldenrod City and obtained a Chimchar then went to the old Bike Shop (which is now an archeological building that hasn't been renovated yet meaning there are still Bikes in there) and revived Kabuto from a Dome Fossil
-Obtained Zangetsu the Kabuto (M, Lv.20)
-Flew to Olivine City and went to the harbor to meet with Prof. Oak who gave me a Lock Capsule
-Went back to Goldenrod and edited my team so I had two free slots and Chimchar was in the team
-Zangetsu learned Surf
-Received a Piplup and a Turtwig from Sinnoh Champion Cynthia
-Showed Cynthia the Lock Capsule and the Hoenn Golems were unlocked
-Stored the Sinnoh starters and withdrew Staraptor and Gyarados
-Caught Tenken the Geodude (M, Lv.4)
-Went to Cianwood and battled some Trainers on Routes 40/41 that I had previously avoided
-Ryujin learned Peck
-Ryujin evolved into Combusken
