the soul

That said, I read somewhere (don't ask for a citation, I don't have one), that when someone dies, their body mass decreases by .37 of a gram or something. Take that as you will.
Though I do have stuffs to say on this subject, I'm already fighting a two-front war, and I don't want to mirror the Schlieffen Plan any more closely. -_-

So, to only comment on this quote...

Not to be pessimistic, but perhaps that's just gas escaping from the corpse?

I do believe in an immortal soul, though.

everyone has a soul, I think of it as a mix of the mind and spiritual views, inside our soul is the conscience of our past lives, everything they knew...we will eventually just be a memory in the soul of our next life...
Our soul is what gives us emotion, essence, the ether god put into everyone of his creations, that is what the soul is.

No. No I don't. The concept of a soul as something separate from the mind makes no sense to me.

I haven't read the entire thread, only the original post, just putting it out there.

I don't know whether to believe in souls or not. I'm agnostic (can't say there is a god but also can't say there isn't a god - on the border between atheism and theism), but generally I don't really care about religion and so I don't really think much about what happens after death or whether we have souls or whatever. It would be nice if there was an afterlife, but there is no way of knowing whether one exists, so I don't bother dwelling on it. The same goes with souls.
