    Every now and then, I see a little + symbol beside someone's username, what does that mean anyway
     
    A + next to someone's name means you've added them to your friends list.
     
    Actually, it's for members that are in your contacts list, it doesn't matter if they're a friend or not.
     
    but I don't always see next to there names, sometimes someone who has it by there name doesn't have it anymore, sometimes it's there, sometimes it isn't
     
    You can see it when you're in the "Who's Online" page or the currently active users part of a forum/thread, but not in posts.
