The TCG type challenge

This is rather simple once you understand everything. Basically, you choose one of the nine TCG types, then you play through one of the main series games using only Pokemon of the main series type(s) represented by your chosen TCG type. For reference, here's a table:

[PokeCommunity.com] The TCG type challenge

Now for the rules:

  1. No hacking, unless it's to get a Pokemon unobtainable without trading in whichever game you're using.
  2. No trading, unless it's to evolve a Pokemon
  3. No Legendary Pokemon!
  4. Rom Hacks are allowed to be used.
  5. You may use one Pokemon not of your chosen type as an HM slave.
  6. You must have at least one of your chosen Pokemon in your party before reaching Vermilion City (Gen. I and its' remakes), Goldenrod City (Gen. II and its' remakes), Mauville City (Gen. III), Hearthome City (Gen. IV), or Castelia City (Gen. V)
  7. If any of your Pokemon have a secondary type that isn't represented by your chosen TCG type, just ignore it. As long as one of its' types is represented, it's fine.
  8. As mentioned in the table above, as Poison types were originally represented as Grass in the TCG until the Diamond & Pearl expansion, where they were changed to be represented as Psychic, they are allowed to be used for both Grass and Psychic.
  9. The challenge ends when you beat the Pokemon League (Generation I\remakes and III-V) or Red (Generation II\remakes)

So this effectively is a monotype, but multiple types are allowed for certain groups (like colorless) but not for others (like fire)?

Another question: We all know that Charizard is a Fire card in TCG. But, since Flying types are represented by colorless (as are Dragons) would we be allowed to use him for colorless too, despite the lack of a colorless Charizard TCG card?

If I understand it good, you can use Charizard, because of his second typing which is flying and flying is in the colorless group, despite the lack of a colorless Charizard. YES :))
