I was a member of another certain Pokémon-related forum, when I thought up of this, but I never got around to actually submit the idea. Procrastination? Probably...

My idea of this challenge has been floating around in my head for quite some time now.
    And now, I wish to share it with all of you! :}

Have you ever heard of the saying "Out with the old, in with the new.", or "Stop holding on to the past."?
You probably have, and as you may know, they're quite simple to understand and easier to say, but like most advice we give to one another, this is a very difficult thing to actually DO.
Time and again, life has proved to us that we all will, eventually, have to learn to change and make ¢hange!

I've used these sayings (kind of) as a basis for my challenge.

Note: Some friends of mine tried this and told me that a previous version of my challenge had a few glaring exploits and thus was much easier than expected...

These rules were actually fine-tuned as a sort of 'Difficult' version with less loopholes. Any part that is enclosed in square brackets is the modified 'Easy' version of that rule.

    • "Let it GO... and move on!"
Any Pokémon that faints is considered as dead and must be released (or permanently stored in the PC). No exceptions! If all available Pokémon are dead, you have failed the challenge. (In my opinion, this rule actually does fit under the theme. I most certainly do not intend for this to be some Nuzlocke variant.)

    • "Just one, damn it!"
You are only allowed to catch one Pokémon per area. You have to catch one when you enter the area the first time. If you leave, you can't catch any when you come back. Legendary and in-game trade Pokémon are allowed. [You may save the area for a later Pokémon capture if you wish.] (Places like caves with multiple floors/sections still count as one area.)

    • "Time to start fresh. Again."
Each time after you obtain a Gym Badge, you must release ALL Pokémon from your party AND from your PC as soon as possible. [At any point in the run before the 8th badge is obtained, you may select only one Pokémon to give immunity to (and has to stay in your party) for the rest of the forced releases]

    • "You want another Dratini? Can't let you do that, StarFox!"
After a species of pokémon has been caught/traded/released, you cannot catch/use another pokémon from the same evolution line ever again.

    • "Let's just say that some things can expire, break, or whatever..."
Also, each time after you obtain a Gym Badge, you must toss ALL usable items from your bag. [Just toss all of these types of items from your bag: HP recovery, status healing, stat enhancing and gems]

    • "Think of it as living as a poor person with lots of ¢hange." (Optional, though recommended)
Simply put, no selling items, rematching trainers, equipping the Amulet Coin nor using the move Pay Day to recieve extra money. Save as much money as possible until the end of the challenge. [Equipping the Amulet Coin is allowed.] (A challenge to try to get as much as possible without unnecessary help.)

You may do this challenge in Single or Ultimate mode if you wish.
In Single mode, you'd just play one Pokémon game using the rules above. In Ultimate mode, you do this challenge in one game for each region.

The challenge ends when you defeat:

Interesting concept. I would recommend removing the shiny rule though. It seems like it's just there to add more rules, and really isn't needed. I would also recommend changing the end point for Emerald, Black, and White Versions, as each of them come after the E4 and have hardly anything to train against. Considering the rules of your challenge, it's kind of a stretch to expect someone to beat Steven in Emerald with such a ragtag team of whatever you were able to catch after Juan. Anyway, just suggestions. You don't have to change anything if you're set on this.

Wow, ok... This is me first update in a while.

    In-game Name: SIGM
    Last Major Trainer Defeated: Falkner
    Current Location: Route 32
    Money: 4042
    Pokémon so far: Totodile/Gustav, Kakuna

Faced Falkner w/ Gustav @ Lv 13. Let Kakuna die, easy win.
After that, I realised I can't toss TMs! Yay! <3

And yeah, I don't have the best online activity.

Wow... Some progress. I thought I'd at least get better reception by now... Things have been going slowly for me so far, especially that I'm working on my own rom-hack.

    ~ Route 32 - Caught Mareep/Ampera
    ~ Released Gustav
~ Ampera evolved into Flaffy @ Union Cave
    ~ Union Cave - Caught Geodude/Roll
    ~ Route 33 - Rattata/Buffy
~ Challenged Bugsy's Gym w/ Buffy Lv11, Roll Lv 14 & Ampera Lv17. Buffy alone would have cleared all the trainers if she didn't get PSN'd by a Paras.
~ Roll literally rocked Bugsy's pokemon into oblivion.
~ Buffy died to PSN on the way out. (I didn't buy nor collect any antidotes...)

I can't take this anymore, and I just don't get it...
This thread has attracted very little to no attention at all. I've suspended my run for now. If this doesn't get a decent amount before the end of September, I might just consider removing it. (If I can even do that...)
