The TV show is sexist!!!!

This may sound dumb but if you have a big imagination just pretend that Ash is Jimmy/Brendan/Lucas if it bothers you that much.

I think that it's all even.
Although there are more male main characters in the show, they always put in a female.
If anything, the show has less cultural diversity. I haven't seen a hispanic, black, white or indian in the show. Even though 4kids may dub the characters with accents, it doesn't mean that there were racial characters in the Japanese/original episode.

EX: Harley was given a feminine voice, because 4kids probably thought he was "gay" enough to do it.
Ex2: That new guy who plays the harp was given a hispanic accent in the 4kids dub.

The Japanese creators should include racial characters that are physically noticeable as something other than Asian.

As for the manga, it's all good. I find it much more enjoyable than the anime. Except it's impossible to find the whole series on shelves, which aggrivates me.

On another note, I really wish that they would include more appearances of the protagonist males from the game (i.e. Brendan, Gold, Lucas). I would love to see Brendan make more of an appearance, other than the 5-second clip of him battling in the Jirachi movie. Gold had his whole episode about Raikou, and Crystal was in it too, but that wasn't apart of Ash's adventures.

Hm. Now that I think about it, I wouldn't mind seeing more of the rivals (Silver, Wally, [Jun's already made his appearance]).

Harley was meant to be a gay stereotype in both English and Japanese, both 4Kids and PUSA dub. Have you heard his Japanese voice?

That's the best clip I have that I've already uploaded, I know it's only 2 lines, but his voice is basically like that all the time

Oh, well I guess I never noticed. :p

P.S. I subscribed to your channel. Thanks for uploading all of the music!

Sexist? Were did you get that Idea? If the show was sexist, there'd be a war by now:

USA: You friggin Japanese are Sexist!
JPN: So we made a Sexist show! Sue us!
USA: Hell yeah!
UN:Shut up both of you!
JPN: *Rebombs Pearl Haorbor*
USA: You sunsofa-... *H-Bombs Tokyo*
JPN: WE GIVE IN
USA: HAHA!
AdvancedK9: I'm moving to Mexico -_-.

Well, you get the Idea, just some international conflict.

US American Global Boycott to Bring Misty Back. Imagine that being brought to the UN Summit.

I was hoping you'd say something like that. But saying US and American was pointless.

Anyway, with raging stereotypes such as phobias, homosexuality that you can hypothisize on, and others, the show isn't really anything, especially sexist.

sexism?

The only "sexism" that I really noticed was in the Pokémon Gyms, particularly the Celadon Gym (I know there's a reason for this). Other than that I don't see what's so sexist about the show.

(This isn't really saying much since I stopped watching in the middle of Hoenn.)

The Celadon Gym battle was a funny case. I still remember people calling Erika sexist. Though some still do today sadly. :(

The US American part was to create a paradox emphasizing the person in question's lack of global perspective when calling it a "global" boycott. And I put US in front of American to further emphasize this as America has a broader definition referring to the continent, even though I know American usually refers to the USA.

I think that males have been main characters in alot of shows and games. But this stuff is starting to get less sexist, take Mirrors Edge on PS3 and Xbox 360 *Awsome Game* for example, The character is female, and Heavenly Sword and also Tomb Raider. In the future, we'll see more female main characters.....Hopefully..

PorygonSquared!!!! When I said "Global Boycott" I DID mean a Global Boycott (meaning, I intended to try and bring ALL nations into this, not just America. Heck, I was even going to recruit Japan into this). I thought I told you all these times that it wasn't strictly in the US (Heck, I even told you that I got two foreign exchange students from Wales and Norway to try and tell their friends to bring Misty Back!)!

S. Magumarashi: Please, don't listen to PorygonSquared, he usually says these things to get a rise out of me, and probably other Misty fans, among other things.

Well, the Celadon Gym wasn't exactly a "sexist" ordeal, they threw out Ash without even letting him battle due to the fact that he said some very bad things about Perfume. Besides, they let Brock, of all people, into the Gym, despite the fact that he's a male.

BTW, Otter Mii-kun, did you consider how most of the girls acting in regards to Fiorello in Princess vs. Princess sexist? Just wondering.

Wait, what was sexist about Princess vs Princess? The beauty contest?

It's only cause the main character and his *best* human friend are both boys.
If it was the male character with ash and brock/tracey (When it was him) it would be 3 boys which would be considered sexist.

Done and dusted.

Oh, jeez. You know, I get the feeling that you only asked so that I could show the video to everyone.

To answer the question, no, it's NOT the contest (Also, it's not a beauty contest either, or at least, not JUST a beauty contest. it's a contest where the trainers both A. pose for beauty, and B. do battle against each other.). It's...

All right, fine (though I'll probably end up regretting having to show this if you and other people will mock me for it):

Also, no, it's not just that the main characters are boys, it's also for the fact that, with the exception of Misty, all the main female protagonists are used for eye-candy purposes only (Masamitsu Hidaka said this himself).

Has anyone noticed that the Pokemon TV shows don't involve the boy heros, but they do the females?
Like how the advance series involves may, but not brendan? and d/p involves dawn, but not lucus? <cough> sexist <cough>

Yet the original poster was talking about Brendan and Lucas. None of these other characters are important here.

I don't know why you would feel bad about showing that video, it's just a clip (and I didn't even know you had a clip :/) The only thing wrong with it is that I, as a girl, don't understand how it is offensive to girls. I mean, if someone announces a big celebrity is coming and people cheer and run off to where they are...that's just what people do. I'm just surprised that people wanted the toy dolls. But then, I never liked dolls. (I threw cars at my barbie house hahaha)

Masamitsu Hidaka never said it was their only purpose in the anime, and we don't even know if he was joking or what. If looking pretty was their sole purpose, they would not have bothered with contests, with them battling, and maturing May throughout AG and gaining confidence, which she had a lot of by DP . Instead, they could've just had her role as to cheer on Ash, dress up every single episode and have attention seeking tendencies so people actually notice them once in a while, and have an occasional episode about her so she can enter a beauty contest. I'm not saying they don't ever use them for fanservice (they obviously are, but every character gets fanservice...you seen the episode in DP where Ash only wears a Tarzan dress thing? Disturbing.) but their main role is obviously to appeal to girls to make them feel involved in the show and that Pokemon is a game that is not only for boys.
