I think im going to do this. Ive just started blue so My team so far is as follows;

Squirtle Lv: 9
Spearow Lv:8

and so far ive caught both gender nidoran. Been playing for 40 mins. Beat Gary first time (or Red as it is in my game :D) Going to beat him for the second time at the entrance to pokemon league and head for viridian forest.
 
This was fun since a lot of times i dont evolve them anyway. I just finished red version with abra and squirtle. Psychic pokemon rule the world in that game. If i had more elixir I could have done with just abra. I also caught Mew but never used it.
