Theme song for DP

Ok, so you know how the first english theme was catchy and everyone loved it, right? Then came the second theme song came and everyone loved the new style of the music. The third season wasn't as good as the others, but was still a masterpiece. The forth season followed it's japanese counterpart and remixed the first theme song, also very popular. The fifth season wasn't as popular as the others, but popular none the less. The sixth season brought about the first of the decreasing popularity of the themes. All of the Hoenn's themes had less popularity as they went on, though there was a slight rise with the Advance Battle and Battle Frontier themes. When DP came, along with Ash's voice (though that changed in the 9th season) The theme songs diminished in popularity, and only those a small majority of a younger variety who had only watched Hoenn liked them. Do you think there's any hope for the theme songs to get better? I mean, now all the songs are as identical to Barney as they could ever be...

"Only a small majority like them"? Are you talking about the actual opening video or the opening songs? Although the videos for the openings are pretty terrible, the songs themselves aren't. The only opening song that has got a lot of hate is the DP one, I think just about everyone would say the songs have improved since then. And only a slight rise with Advanced Battle? That's probably one of the most popular themes.

I'm not sure which theme it is, but I know its for the newer season and its a female voice. Anyways I hate that theme it just doesn't go with the show at all. Even though I don't like it its only about 30 seconds long so I can just easily ignore it.

I don't know about some of you guys, but I think the last two theme songs are great, especially Galactic Battles. While the chosen scenes aren't the best (hopefully when the show turns HD they'll change them), the song is just awesome. I just wish it was longer.

Am I the only person who didn't like the first opening? I thought it was terrible. Anyway, I like all of the openings besides the first and tenth openings so I guess they have been getting better.

I like the current theme...I just frigging hate the random "PI PIKACHU!" "GLISCOR!" "CHIMCHAAARR!" "BUI BUI!" at the end D:

Hopefully PCI would have a full version of the current theme in Movie 12 (to replace High Touch '09). Or another better song.

They were people who just started watching pokemon in the hoenn region, they liked those theme songs for the same reason we liked the first theme song , we grew up with it.

It may be, but out of the original 60 million fans of the dubbed pokemon songs (that excludes Japan) the first four were the most popular, however, Advanced battle had the bright theme that was lost from Master Quest to Advance Challenge (The reason I didn't like those), in popularity, yes, it is the most popular.
...You do know I'm talking about the dubbed themes right? I love all of the Japanese theme songs :). Those just keep getting better and better.

the theme for master quest was my favorite. I really hate the theme for galactic battle. I always did think that the theme songs were getting worse every season.:P

You're talking about the Japanese openings, right?

All of the seasons so far have had their share of popular & unpopular theme songs.. so I guess you could say that their popularity has always been rising and falling. However, as of right now.. High Touch seems to be pretty popular, so I wouldn't say that the quality of the opening themes are falling.

machomuu, do you actually have any proof that the first four opening songs are the most popular, or is that just a wild assumption based on your own personal preferences? Seriously, it's fine to say that you personally think that the opening themes are declining in popularity and quality, but I highly doubt that's the general consensus.

That's not how I remember it. Pretty much everyone I knew back then who watched the show was annoyed that they got rid of the old music.

1st theme song: didn't like (both JPN and USA)
2nd: liked the English
3rd: really liked
4th: didn't like
5th: it was okay
6th: horrid for me
7th: okay
8th: really good
9th: didn't like the US version, but the japanese version is the best (its also my favorite song)
10th: Spurt, I really liked)
as for the others, didn't really like =/

The original Japanese theme song for the first season is the best, and it should stay with the series always. It's so catchy and fits the show perfectly, even to this day.
