Blackthorn City is a place full of dragon type trainers and experts, yet in all of the 251 pokedex, there are only four actual dragon type Pokemon, and only two once fully evolved, Dragonite and Kingdra. Why is there a city dedicated to dragon types with a dragon type gym and a den of dragon tamers that worship dragons when there are only 4 total dragon type Pokemon in the Kanto and Johto region? So do they all have illegal Dragonites or something?

I mean look at Lance, he's more of a hyper beam/flying type master, than an actual dragon type master. They could of added more dragon types (and ghost types) in GSC to fix this, but instead gave Lance 3 illegal Dragonites.

What are some things that seem odd to you and what change to GSC would fix that?

Lol yeah I find that silly. Then again it could be the fact that dragon type Pokemon are hard to tame which is why they're like dedicating their whole existence to proving they can take them on.

Jasmine is weird too. Why have a gym dedicated to a type with barely any Pokemon featuring that type found in the world at the time?? Honestly the only thing that could have been done there is replacing her with another type :(

I never understood why Morty or any of his gym trainers don't use Misdreavus. The only way you can even see that Pokemon is by going to Mt Silver near the very end of the game. What's the point of introducing only one new Ghost type if you're not gonna let it be used in the Ghost gym?

Speaking of gym leaders, half of the Johto ones only use Gen 1 Pokemon. I think they should've given Falkner a Hoothoot instead of the overly common Pidgey.

Also, the fact that some of the Gen 2 Pokemon such as Larvitar and Houndour can only be caught in Kanto also bothers me.

Yeah, guess it was because she use to have an Onix that evolved into a newly discovered Steel type Steelix and wanted to be hip with the new steel type so she changed her gym.

A Hoothoot would have been more original yeah, the Johto gym leaders could have been given gen 2 Pokemon easily.

    Falkner: Hoothoot and/or Natu

Bugsy: Spinarak, which is funny because he had one in the anime, and/or Pineco

Whitney: Teddiursa replacing Clefairy seems perfect

Morty: Misdreavus as you mentioned, would be an obvious choice but for some reason they opted for the popular Gengar.

    Chuck: Hitmontop

The rest I think are alright, although a Skarmory would work with Jasmine.

Natu wouldn't fit in with Falkner tbh. I can't see him not having part of the Pidgey family. Hoothoot suits Morty more imo.

Everything else would make sense to me imo! Crazy how they didn't actually do this lol but for Bugsy's gym I suppose it does suit given the TM that is given out.

Ho Oh leading the legendary dogs. It is more of a bird than Lugia, and Lugia also has a type that doesn't make much sense.

Like Alice said, the fact that the Gym Leaders mostly use 1st Gen Pokemon. Heck, some of their aces happen to not be a 2nd Gen Pokemon! Kind of a waste of these new Pokemon if you ask me.

I found it weird that Lugia wasn't water type, considering it is the "guardian of the seas". It also does live in a cave deep underwater.

It would make sense to have it be Water/Flying typed, but that could've lowered its usefulness in battle.

Second Gen Pokemon weren't very well emphasized. Falkner really should have used Hoothoot, Bugsy needed a Pineco or Heracross, Morty could have replaced his Haunter with Misdreavus...

The Flash mechanic could have been better implemented, too. It's way too dark without Flash and it's a waste of a move slot with it.

One thing that I found more annoying than odd was that the new catch algorithm made it appear to me that the PokéBalls were significantly weaker than they were in R/G/B/Y. On top of that, many of the then-new Pokémon had ridiculously low catch rates (in fact, just six of the Generation II 'mons had the maximum catch rate of 255, whereas more than twice as many out of the Gen. I roster did).

I didn't really realize how interesting this was at first, considering that, even though Psychic types were now weak to Ghost, you could technically still have an edge in the Ecruteak Gym with Psychic-type moves since only the part-Poison Gastly line was used by Morty or any of the other Trainers there (though Gengar's Shadow Ball might pose a bit of a problem).

It always felt like they intentionally downplayed the new Pok?mon in Gen 2, as if they wanted you to discover them on your own. Many of them were very rare in the wild, and loads weren't even obtainable until the postgame. Quite a few weren't even used by minor NPCs in the game, let alone Gym Leaders or E4 members.

Of course, the Gen 3 games went in the exact opposite direction and heavily pushed the new Pok?mon while making many of the older ones completely unobtainable. Gens 4 and 5 mostly followed Gen 3's lead, while Gens 6 and 7 slid back into giving more attention to older Pok?mon (although to new ones still weren't ignored to the extent that they were in Gen 2).

the only think i hate about gen 2 are peopel caling the legendary beasts dogs when entei is obvioulsy a lion ans raikou a sabred cat do peopel ahte cats that much that they keep calling them that
