I'm not sure this has been discussed before (or, at least, recently), but I was wondering if there were any moments, scenes, even entire episodes, etc. that any of you were surprised weren't edited out of English version of the show. I know we tend to have topics lamenting what was edited, so it seems a discussion that is, in effect, the reverse of that might be a novel thing to consider.

    Thoughts?

Back on what Kent said. I was surprise Harley's and his Canturne preformance was edited eirhter. I mean it is a skull and cross bones. That doesn't seem kid friendly.

You're right.... o__o I didn't notice when I watching it... but now that someone mentioned, I'm surprised those things weren't edited myself.

Then again...theres the Skull and Crossbone things on random toys made for young children...like ...Legos and stuff... I suppose thats something they could keep in...

    And something I thought was weird, yet totally awesome, is that in the movie 'Jirachi WishMaker' they left part of the Japanese ending theme in for the credits, and eventually had the english version going along with the Japanese.... it was cool, but thats the first time 4Kids had ever done that. I d@mn near cried. Also, still on the Jirachi thing, they put the 'Music video' with 'Chiisaki Mono' in the DVD as a 'Extra' thing... that surprised me too...I love that song... I think I have to listen to it now! *brings up Media Player* XD ^^;

Dogasu's site is still down for me, right before the Harley episode too. Emo-mo-mo.

Anyway, I'll say recent times with Winona's prayer to the God of the Sky in the GL episode. It was a surprise since usually 4Kids stray from the multi God culture that is Japan.

    Yeah, heh, I'll keep thinking.

I too was rather suprised that Harley wasn't edited into a girl or anything... It looks like society is started to accept a wider variety of things.

I was also suprised back in a Kanto episode where it showed Misty getting cut by a thorn in that snorlax episode.... Usually they cut out red stuff like blood.

    John?

Hmm. I was just saying that they dubbed One Piece so much that I be thinking that pure crossbones will be dub too. Harely if you were a little kid will be view as a very girl guy. He didn't act like you know....

Misty bleeding was a long time ago at a different time. Before angry parents thinking Jynx is bad.

I guess he got a new address because my current link didn't work. Headdesk. Thanks. Yeah, I'm John, hee. Stupid...leave a post it note, something, Dogasu! Headdesk. Okay.

Rant over with, next up to be amazed at is the lazy omitting paint edits, like in the Squirtle Squad episode, when Gary popped out of the door of the store and hit Ash in the face, there was an sign that said beer on it.

Every sign of Japanese they strip away at that point but not beer. Weird...

I know. I notice they stop showing any signs at all except pokemon contest signs but that is it. Strange they didn't dub that one. I notice Team Rocket use a blast bomb a few episode back. I surprise that wasn't dub or anything.

Speaking of that episode, I am surprised that they showed the Rockets using their "ice" guns like that just prior to my aforementioned scene. It was so evil, that it was beyond funny.

Yeah, how about that? At least they didn't paint them away like Outlaw Star did with their guns. Hee.

    What?!?! That is very strange.

Team Rocket seems to have tone down since the old days. I mean justmechs but no bombs and stuff.

We'll move ahead in the future with the Nuzleaf introduction episode (Turning Over A New Nuzleaf). I was surprised they kept in the literal meaning of Team Rocket's threat of burning the Pokemon at the stake.

    From Dogasu's site:

    https://www.bulbagarden.net/~dogasu/comparisons/houen/ep026.html

    Side Note
I was surprised that they kept in Konohana?s threat to burn Satoshi?s pokemon at the stake (a literal translation of hiaburi) in the dub. It's certainly a step up from when the Squirtle Squad was threatening to dye Misty?s hair purple, that's for sure.

    Huh.

When I was younger, I thought the whole concept of Sabrina having a talking doll wasn't exactly for kids O.O I also went crazy when that chandelier fell and--KILLED Ash. Surprised those episodes even made it, but eh. What do I know?

I think I remember that scene that you're talking about, Dark Weezing. It's been a while since I've last seen that one.

Of course, this makes many people who say that the dub of Pokemon is bad look like idiots.

So, in other words, don't believe in what Heracross, Satoshi, and Jessie The GSII say when they say that the Pokemon dub is bad.

Besides, the only 4Kids dub that people are really complaining about is One Peace. And I don't really want to turn this thread into a discussion on that infamous dub.

One thing I think that surprized me is that they had the ending song in Jirachi: Wish Maker with both English and Japanese lyrics in it. Heck, they even included the music video for the original Japanese verson of the song on the DVD.

As for the dub talk, that isn't the point of this but I do agree with you, Misty and that's all I'll say.

You said the movies and making the Wish Maker half Japanese/half English is weird but still...

As for the fourth movie and ongoing, they've kept the Japanese music, which is nice for movie 4 and 5 has nice music (love the 4th movie score).
