People have the common idea thar pokemon is childish mainly due to Nintendo's means of marketing it. Also, R/B were terrible games graphically according to many reviews of it I've read at gamefaqs.com. many people tend to listen to these "experts" and take on their opinion because they are too stupid or lazy otherwise to have their own opinion.

It is true that the average person may play pokemon games and see a childishly easy RPG that really falls short of a true RPG (like FF or Kingdom Hearts), but many people like us, play a pokemon game and see a unique game that offers greatly customizeable gameplay. Some are attracted to the battling aspect while some are attracted to the collecting aspect, but we all view the pokemon games as great, underrated games.

It is true that the average person may watch the pokemon anime and see a childishly repetitive plot, but many other people like us, watch the pokemon anime and are treated to a vast fantasty world with great characters and vividly rendered pokemon.

I may not be the most open about my fandom, but a lot of my friends know it anyways, along with every other major video game series that i'm a fan of. I usually take my Game Boy equipped with a pokemon game on test days so that I can entertain myself when I'm done and waiting for everyone else to finish. I usually pack my Game Boy with me when I go out by myself to pass the time between tasks. Sure i may get wierd looks from fellow students or strangers passing me by on the sidewalk, but I couldn't care less (it does really annoy me when little kids walk up to me acting like they are pokemon experts and then ask me the most n00bish pokemon questions when I prove them wrong. XD)
I agree mebbe i should be more proud of it

how come? :D
it has been popular in every school i go to.

Just Seems Odd... Maybe I Just need To See It

Well, sadly, this has been a huge problem for Poke'fans, for about the last 2 years...
I miss the good old days when even the girls in my grade liked Pokemon...
I'm ashamed of going to PC at school! I do it anyways. I do nothing else about Pokemon at school. I know I have to show people that I can like what I like, but my reputation at school is messed up enough. I have to make a line somewhere. But I know people who are so obsessed with anime they dont care. I dont want to become that person. I still love pokemon and will for a very long time.

all i can say is im 21, and i still think pokemon are cute and wish i had one! XD
i dont care what people think -im not going to change what i like for anyone ^^

Lucky you... You are Through Middle school. The Teenage years SUCK!

Go for it! I'm 18 and my bf is 17, and we STILL play Pokemon. And wanna know whate's great about it? We do it at school. I know, I know, we must get bullied, right? No! My friends actually think it's cool that we still play and are happy that other people are still interested in things they were into when they were younger.
Not everyone is going to be nice about it, but it doesn't matter as long as playing the game still makes you happy.
What would this world be like if people decided to forget about Jesus and hid that they were Christians? I know this is a bit different, but there are many different examples of this. Just because you like something that isn't popular doesn't mean you should hide.
