Ok, I'm not NEW to Pokemon, but I am new to competetion. I'm putting together my first team right now, and I have 2 so far at 100, both picked solely because I thought they looked cool, which is wrong I know. Anyways, what i have so far:

    Absol
    Nature: Adamant
    HP: 243 (4 EVs)
    Attack : 377 (252 EV's)
    Defense: 156 (127 EV's)
    S. Att: 156
    S. Def: 157 (127 EV's)
    Speed: 176

Psycho Cut (take it or leave it)
Sucker Punch (leaning towards keeping this)
Swords Dance (Leaning towards keeping this)
Perish Song (REALLY need Mean Look to make that worth keeping)

    Jolteon
    Nature: Modest
    HP: 270 (4 EV's)
    Attack : 141
    Defense: 131
    S. Att: 333 (252 EV's)
    S. Def: 195
    Speed: 340 (252 EV's)

Last Resort (Don't think i want to keep that)
Iron Tail (Also, not sure about this)
    Thunder (The accuracy is horrible)
Double Kick (want to get rid of also)

Those are the only 2 I have so far. I thought I was really on a roll with them, and I really like the Absol, but I don't know about that Jolteon. The one I'm currently working on is a:

    Bastiodon
    Nature: Careful
    EV spread??? 128 HP, 130 Defense, 252 S. Def

    Possible moveset:
    Stealth Rock
    Roar
    Toxic
    Rest

Is Bastiodon even worth the effort? He's only lvl 2 right now. Any reccomendations on others to fill out the team. All critisism welcome, mainly, I just want to keep the Absol, but I can always try breeding another one. Mostly though, I just want people's opinions on the Bastiodon, should I even bother trying to raise one?

No, STATS! Got that? Just EV's, Nature, Item, and Moveset (and the Pokemon of course =P)

No Bastiodon, and either Scarf, Band, or Baton Pass Absol

Okay just saying but we don't care about stats EVs yes and your Bastiodon needs an attack move.

    Bastiodon @leftovers
    Relaxed
    252hp/ 138spdef/ 120def
    Stealth rock
    Gyro Ball
    EQ
    Roar

Jolteon I'll leave for other people but your Absol instead of Psycho Cut could use Zen Headbutt.

Bastiodon is UU mainly because of its horrid typing (x4 weakness to Fighting and Ground? Come on!); even its great defenses don't help here. It's really not recommended to use, seeing all the Pokemon that pack EQ and/or Fighting Moves out there.

Perish Song isn't good on Absol, b/c your opponent can just switch out. You can't even use it in conjunction with Mean Look because Absol isn't sturdy enough to stall for two/three turns anyway. Swap for X-Scissor or maybe Substitute.

    Don't use that Jolteon. 0_o;

    [ Jolteon ] @ Leftovers
    Nature: Timid
    EVs: 4 Hp/ 252 Spatk/ 252 Speed
    - Baton Pass
    - Hidden Power Ice / Hidden Power Fighting
    - Substitute
    - Thunderbolt

Ok, next time I make a new thread I'll leave out the stats, it's just I saw some people in the past flamed for not enough info, so I thought I'd give as much as I had.

    Mea Culpa

Yeah the 4x effectivite bites maybe use Steelix instead.

    Steelix@ Iron Ball
    Relaxed
    252hp/ 138def/ 120spdef
    EQ
    Gyro Ball
    Stealth Rock
    Explosion

Obviously you need to understand what we're posting =\ Its against rules to post in the correct format in this forum, we weren't flaming, we were BEING flamed AT. If you fail to recognize this, then lol. If the post is not in correct format, it will be closed.

I like the Steelix idea, durka durka, I have no idea why I hadn't even considered him before. Is Gyro ball really that good though? Granted, I haven't gone on WiFi a lot yet, and I've only JUST started PBR, but any bot that's ever used Gyro ball on me it's been almost useless.

Gyro Ball = Stronger depending on your Speed and opponents Speed.

Earthquake weakness for Physical Walls aren't very good though, but use if you'd like

    Eh?

    Steelix @ Leftovers
    Trait: Sturdy
    EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
    Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
    - Earthquake
    - Gyro Ball
    - Rest
    - Roar

For the record, blowing up your wall isn't a good idea.

Stealth Rock is a better recommendation if you don't have a Stealth Rock user in Team visible. (or Spikes)

Yeah, I love to use explosion. It still isn't a good idea, and it's mostly because of have another physical wall to back it up. Meh, I use the CB steelix now ;)

And I must've been REALLY tired, since I never forget roar on steelix.

    lol. BASTIODON CANNOT ATTACK.

Bastiodon is a good pokemon to destroy other walling pokemon. It should always carry a Metal Burst.

    Bastiodon

    - Rest
    - Taunt
    - Metal Burst
    - Stealth Rock

This way, Bastiodon can inflict damage every turn. Taunt is the key. Metal Burst only inflicts damage if the other opponent attacks you first. Taunt will assure that the opponent will attack every turn. Bastiodon is best used with a TrapPassing Umbreon on your team. With Umbreon's Mean Look, most pokemon relying on defensive moves will fall to Bastiodon's Taunt. Then Metal Burst its way through the walls. Rest is there to assure Bastiodon a recovery.

    Absol @ Focus Sash
    -Swords Dance
    -Quick Attack/Thunder Wave
    -Sucker Punch
    -Zen Headbutt

You should have gave Absol speed. Because it really could have used it.

Perish Song is not needed on Absol....It's just not the type for it.

With what you already done to Absol. This set would be more useful for it.
