my best friend and i have been playing pokemon gb games for 5+ years and neither of us have even seen a shiny. and then i let my sister borrow my cystral and she gets a shinny clefa

Pot Luck, even if you have been playing Crystal for 5 years, the chances of getting a shiny are still very slim, but Wow, a Cleffa. And i've caught a Shiny Tangula.

i wasn't even aware that you could catch shinny pokemon until saphire and ruby but it does have green ears

I've never had a shiny either, your sister must be sooooooo lucky. My brother has a shiny too.

I don't think I've ever seen a shiny in GSC either.
