...I don't get the whole "stupid people fell for troll bait" thing.

The airplane idea is... flawed to put it gently, and rather stupid to be blunt. The posters, in addition to mocking Sumeet's idea, have explained the flaws in the design, and educated a couple people. Regardless of the OP's intentions, it seems to have been rather productive and nobody's raging over it. Where's the troll? I don't see it.

The plane and the magnet are both accelerating into the ground (due to gravitation) at 9.8m/(sec^2) This is the primary force you must overcome.

If the magnet isn't suspended above the plane by a constant force, the magnet attracts the plane at the same rate that the plane attracts the magnet. For the system to be functional, the mass of the magnet must be greater than that of the plane, so the point at which they meet will be closer to the magnet. When they meet, you will need another magnet of mass greater than both the plane and the first magnet in order to continue its upward motion.

Since the magnet in your system is suspended by a constant force (the tension on the rope suspending the magnet, further supported by the compressive force upon the pole) in order to prevent the two bodies from moving towards each other, the force of attraction between the two objects is being counteracted. Therefor the system is static: nothing happens. Unless its in the air in the beginning, in which case:

The entire system is still being pulled downward by gravity. With no additional (un-counteracted) force, the whole thing will fall.

The whole point is that the only difference between one group of particles (magnet) and another (plane) is the arrangement. Not only are they subject to the same rules, there is essentially no difference between them. They attract each other such that they move towards their point of contact at the same rate.
