Thoughts/Ideas about a Pokemon Anime Game?!

Hi guys, I am new here, but I really wanted to ask this question and share my opinion!
So, we all know that a big Pokemon game with all the regions won't be coming out until they decide to call it a career on the franchise, or even at all. I really hope they do because it has soooo much potential and could be amazing. They'd be silly not to go out with a bang like that! Think about all the possibilities there are in a game like that! I'm going to go over the list I've created with wants and must haves if there were ever to be a game like this! I know this is wishful thinking, but they have to do this at some point, right? Tell me what you think too!

    1. Graphics/Controls
Obviously, there we need to be a completely different change of graphics for a game this big - and on a different platform. My assumption is the game would be too large for 3DS cartridge, so a reasonable move to the Wii U would be beneficial, and honestly I can see Nintendo allowing it (especially for a last game). I'm thinking more of an RPG feel - still have the third person view like normal, but maybe an option to view it as first person too! You can change the camera angle when you walk too, sort of like GTA I think I'm getting at. If you ever played that now-dead project Pokemon Generations, I think they could definitely work with that sort of graphics to make a great game, or even continue with the ORAS type of graphics. I think this is obviously only for Wii U - if you don't have one but love Pokemon like me, it basically forces you to buy one, which is more sales. I'm thinking the screen-pad can have your options on it - like bag, pokemon, pokedex, options, etc. (I'm not really sure how that thing works tbh). They could zoom on the pokedex or bag on the tv when you use them! And as for pokeballs, there could be a whole new animation for them. I think a full grown size too like in the battling sprites is necessary too - no more shrunken down sizes in the overworld - make them real sized people! And speaking of the people...

    2. Characters
Customization would be huge. Make your own trainer completely - starting from height, width (ig not really weight), body part sizes, colors, etc. It would definitely keep the audience intrigued. You can even pick if you want to be a trainer or a coordinator - the League or contests. Maybe even pick what region you want to start from because of this? There would be contests in every region maybe, and instead of battling gyms you compete in contestants and win ribbons. Then, the Grand Festival happens! Perhaps after you have beaten the Pokemon League in one region, you want to call it quits there, so you can become a breeder or lab assistant or pokeball maker or fisherman? Then there could be a more exciting life ahead of you for that - minigames, quests, still battles, etc. Anyway, you can also pick what sort of family you want - just a mom, just a dad, both, any siblings, if they travel with you, any house hold pet-pokemon, etc. Customization should be huge! Shops everywhere to buy clothing, food because you should actually get hungry, etc. One other thing, is the characters from the games/anime. You should be able to meet Ash - maybe he's your rival - or Misty and Brock, etc. Maybe there's a really small percentage that after you beat the gym leader, (maybe depending on how you beat them, etc) that they will join you on your journey! Imagine someone young like Sabrina with you, I don't know! Also, think about how cool it'd be to actually be offered the position of a gym leader, elite four, fronteir brain, etc! Maybe even Team Rocket :O

    3. Open Map/World
This would be amazing - free roam in the pokemon world. Let us outside of those boundaries! Let us explore this cave, that forest, this river, that ocean. You can ride pokemon in the air, land and see with their own overworld sprites! Cities and towns would be bigger like they are in the anime and have shops, restaurants, PCs, marts, etc. You can find all the wild pokemon in the overworld too, and if you bump into it, initiate a battle. You can also (rarely) find starters in the wild like Ash did! Have mini-games or contestants in each town or city, like flying through rings or racing on your pokemon. Oh, and also include those small towns and cities from the anime that aren't implemented in the games. I also think you should have free rein on your pokemon - let them out of the pokeball whenever you want! Let them travel alongside you, or when you just wanna relax let them come out and enjoy some food and some scenery. Imagine coming up to a cliff with Vermillion City just past it, so you sit down, take out your pokemon, and watch the sunset over it while enjoying some food you brought along. Kodiak moment! Also, you can obtain/buy/get bikes, roller blades, or whatever form of transportation you want, if you dont wanna ride your pokemon that is. Also, can't forget about the Orange Islands and Battle Frontier! They need to be in here too! During the storyline, there should be cutscenes with wild pokemon that are in need of help or are causing trouble (see Ash's Charmander or Mankey for examples) and you can try to capture them. However to make it different and unique for everyone, randomize the pokemon you get! So one person could get a Nidoran and another could get a Dratini! Like how cool would that be!

    4. Battling Mechanics
Basically this would need to be changed to more of the anime-style. I think in order to maximize it's true potential in a game like this, one definite option would to be take control of the pokemon in battles. That way, you can dodge attacks, use combos, and even have attacks collide! You can have multiple moves - more than 4 (if there are enough buttons or commands for it) like the anime. Basically, battling needs to be more like the anime. Also I think what would help is an overhaul on the matchups. Like for example, typing isn't as big of a component anymore in battles, but more how much you have trained your pokemon, and how good you are with your techniques you have implemented! And I will talk about this later, but instead of leveling up, you gain experience and that's it. Training facilities will be available too, but you can also train in rivers or forests or the sky, etc. Also, evolving in battle should be a thing, as when you use moves and fight, you gain experience. It should be based on experience when they evolve (maybe like a minor leveling-up system, idk). And the evolution animation would be totally redone too! Battling has a lot of potential.

    5. Gameplay Mechanics
Night/day should obviously make a return. Side quests should be a thing to allow you to take a break from the main storyline and earn some money and/or items, or even pokemon. The biggest thing I think that would need to be implemented - the ability to be able to change your storyline. If you lose to a gym leader, have the next time be harder and have them say other lines to you! If you lose to a trainer, then oh well you lost! We should be given options on how to respond to people, and their reactions should change based off what we said. Also, I think multiple saves would be nice, however probably unreasonable given the amount of other things on this game. Besides changing your destiny in this game, another huge key component in befriending or capturing pokemon in different ways. How many times have we seen Ash catch a pokemon because he bonded with it or took care of it (Charmander, Chimchar, Aipom, to name a few). Let us interact with wild pokemon or even pokemon in the storyline and see what happens. Also let us travel with people and we can trade with them if we like their pokemon or something. If we catch too much, screw the PC, send it to our starting region's professor and have them look after it. There should be cutscenes among other things during the story (like a legendary thing or a gym, ec). Have you guys ever played that Bakugan game for the DS? They have a world rank system you can find on the internet in the game, and there should be one like this for Pokemon - based off how you defeat gym leaders, and in the pokemon league - which by the way, should drop the old 5 strong elite members and go to the anime style of tournament, with the winner being able to fight the leader and/or elite 4. Also, Team Rocket should appear with their motto/song and other villainous organizations, obviously, to keep the story alive. On a minor note, sitting down and stretching or running, jogging, etc should be accessible to our characters.

    6. Leveling Up System/Different Regions
There will need to be an overhaul on the leveling system if we are going to be able to visit multiple regions, right? That's why I propose this new one - instead of the normal "go-up-by-one-level-until-evolve" system we are used to, it needs to be changed to be based off of experience. What do I mean by experience? I mean the more and more you use a pokemon in battle, and when it does good things in battle like a good move, or defeat it's opponent, it gains this EXP. (This next part i dont really know about but just putting it in there)Then, each pokemon would get a set amount of EXP in which it would evolve at, rather than just have random evolutions - although it could have random evolution times like Ash's Totodile or Squirtle or whatever never evolving. Going off of that though, maybe you catch a really ferocious Bellsprout (I think Pokemon should be given distinct personalities too like in the anime)it will want to evolve really quickly. The whole point of this is, you don't want to be overpowered for the next region, and you don't want to have to start completely fresh at the next region. As new as this would be, it's something that would need to get done and I think get used to pretty quickly. Also, you can bring up to a certain amount of Pokemon over to your next region, let's say 2 for example, so you don't start over empty-handed. Then, you can call Prof Oak or whoever up if you wanna deposit someone.

    7. Storyline
Aside from what you obviously are meant to do (gyms or contests), maybe you can choose a goal you want to be - the best breeder, number one pokemon master, an awesome coordinator, etc. Also, for the one universal, common, everyone-who-plays-needs-to-do-this-goal, I propose the storyline follows that you are to learn about how the Pokemon universe started, the history, about how all the legendaries came to be and made everything, how each region was made, etc and what is to happen if it's destroyed by the likes of all the bad guys. It could be dramatic, intense, but also deep and emotional. I think it would be an excellent storyline to follow.

    8. Online/Multiplayer?
Perhaps the most controversial, this could be a whole different game mode, or part of the actual story. Besides the obvious trading and battling, your would could be filled with other players from around the world, or local, and you can make friends, travel, etc! And even compete with them in the Pokemon League! However, badges would have to be collected in a certain amount of time, because let's say a Pokemon League Tournament starts like every other Sunday (I don't know, throwing it out there). So you need to get there and sign up in time! Frustrating to some, but awesome for others! (It wouldn't take too long either, to keep it from going for days when people arent there to play, but also I dont think a League should be going every hour). You can do side quests with people still, you see them walking or running around with their pokemon, and overall it'd be nice to see! But only, i'd say 100-200 people on a "server" at once - it would be waaay to crowded otherwise. So you'd be randomly put into one.

So that basically wraps up what I have thought an amazing Wii U Anime-esque Pokemon game would be like. I get so excited thinking about it, as living out my childhood dream would be so epic. Pokemon is a truely inspirational game that makes you think creatively and I love it. What are your thoughts and opinions? Let me know if you have any to add, or don't like! Hopefully some day Gamefreak/Nintendo/Pokemon will make this. Every good thing must come to an end, right?

Since the main topic of this thread is about a video game, and the anime is a lesser topic, I'm going to move this to Pokémon Gaming Central. If Peitharchia believes that this is more suitable for Pokémon Anime, then she may move it back here.

I'm sure many fans would enjoy it if they were to introduce such a thing--a big Pokémon game, based off anime entirely.

Our main-series titles do follow anime every now and again, but their story-lines still have a lot of differences; in comparison, they're rather straightforward--to-the-point. Anime has a lot of things in general that we are yet to see in main games (evolving-during-battle would be one example), and incorporating them could certainly help make the video games feel more... advanced and whatnot, so to speak. Would be interesting to see how they take it!

So tl;dr a Pokemon sandbox mmorpg game ? Hmm While I would like the world to be easier to roam I wouldnt really like it to be as free as this. Also I was never such a fan of the anime, I preferred the game and pokespe versions. I would like it like in FFVIII where from a certain point in the game you could travel freely. I also liked the exp version in that game.

^ I totally agree with what you said above. I dream about being able to do this and Nintendo knows people like us do. So what would actually stop them from even attempting a game like this? Pokken Fighters or Tournament or whatever shows signs of getting there with it's graphics and such, but being able to fully live my childhood dream in an open world, allowing us to do our own thing in pokemon would be special.
