I know this generation has had a lot of hate pushed onto it but a lot of what I've heard hasn't really been backed up with a good argument. I'm actually really curious about what people think about Unova and WHY they think that. I will admit that when news of gen 5 started to appear I thought it would be bad but it's actually one of my favorite storylines now in the Pokemon series. I like Cheren and Bianca as friends/rivals even though they may not be the most intimidating when compared to ones like Blue and Silver. I think the region itself is absolutely beautiful and I like how it becomes a bit more expanded in b/w 2. Team Plasma is definitely a different kind of view for an evil organization, and while their ultimate goal through the true leader, Ghetsis, was not actually liberation, N's own views and his whole life are incredible plot lines for a Pokemon game. I've played Pokemon since I was about 5 years old and this game really moved me and made me think more than almost any other game simply through the plot and the mystery surrounding N. While b/w was a bit lacking in post-game content they definitely corrected that in b/w 2 and I like how they progressed the story line with the remakes instead of just refining the first plot. Pushing the timeline forward reminded me of Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD which are also two of my favorite Pokemon games. As for the Pokemon, some of them were really good and some were really bad, it's like that in every generation. I say, don't hate on the ice cream cone and the garbage bag if you can't hate on the pile of sludge and the magnet too.

I think 5th Gen was the biggest revolution of the Pokemon franchise because it broke the mould that previous games set, notably with the Unova region being further away from the others and an entirely independent Pokedex with just new Pokemon.

The Unova region itself has a lot of beautiful environments and the new locations added in B2/W2 were great at expanding on the region itself, plus there was tons of memorable characters with very relatable personalities, such as Cheren, Bianca and N.

The darker story was also something of a leap in Pokemon and I pictured it as more likely to attract mature fans to the franchise. B2/W2 being true sequels instead of a rehashed third game was also new, in that it continued from the story instead of reusing it.

I also loved how more advanced in design the new Pokemon were, because compare to most previous Pokemon and you'll see how drastic the changes were. There was just so much about 5th Gen that was unique and resonated so much with me in my time as a Pokemon fan.
