Suggestion: Thread sorting

What the Title says. I have a suggesting about how the threads could be sorted. I do not know if this has been brought up before now or not, but IT would make searching for that one(or more) role play/topic in the sections with hundreds of threads. I propose that the threads can be sorted by whether the thread is closed or not. The reason being: I was looking for free RP's to join earlier and had it sorted by post counts. Soon after that I realized that I was skipping entire pages because the first thread was closed, so I naturally thought the other threads were closed as well. Some brand new threads that aren't closed have only a few posts, sometimes none, and I dropped my corrupted search and got off the comp to watch some television. If threads could be sorted by that, people wouldn't have to worry about searching threads, finding one that seems good, only to find that it's been closed and they can't post in it.

If you're talking about a filter that lets you keep closed threads out of your search, that might actually be nice. I've had the same problem when using search. Sometimes I see a thread, want to post in it but find it too old or closed.

I know there's a function in advanced search for an age cutoff but not by status.

This seems like a good idea and practical the only problem is, don't you think they may have thought of this already? If it were that easy don't you think it would have been done (with the exemption of threads that need to stay so another for a question isn't made and continuing the cycle) pointless threads are closed all the time. Think about it this way, perhaps they have tried it but it took the wrong threads and/or still left pointless ones. That is why they have the padlock symbol or whatever it is on the theme you use.

It'd be awesome to have an option to hide threads if they're closed or exclude them from search results or sort them lower, but it's not included with the vBulletin software so unless there's a quick modification for something like that (I wouldn't know; I haven't checked), it's not a possibility unless we write one ourselves.

And by we I mean Audy, who's busy enough as it is. :s

Rose, If the question has come up before, it must have been deleted off the board and they (the staff) would have tried it already, maybe with no success, or what not. I posted because it is not on the list and it is a valid request for them to work on if they have the time.
