    Hello everyone!
I was following this tutorial: https://www.pokecommunity.com/threads/314480
And when I used Tile Helper to do the pallet thing to my tiles, they turned out very ugly and everything was a mess, how do I fix this?

Also, how do I make it so that tiles like the houses' roofs obscure the player and other objects? Like going under a bridge.

Yes Kostas is right, you cant put all of those tiles at once as, think if a tree (with green, all the shades, trunk, etc) and you are trying to add a tree, a house and etc. try to follow his tutorial as basic, here and then day by day you ill get about the whole tile set thing.

Thanks for the tips, but the pallet across the entire tileset is shared, right? Then what's the reason for putting them on by one when they'll use the same palette anyways?

Yes. This means you will only have 16 colors for the all the tiles (really 15, since 1 is transparent). So THA will reduce your image to 16 colors by combining similar colors, like the two different shades of blue-green on the roof of the house. This is why your image looks ugly after running it through THA.

If you look closely at how the default tiles are used in A-Map, you will discover that within the same tileset, there are tiles that only make sense on different palettes. IIRC, green/brown things like grass and mountain tiles are usually on a low-numbered palette (0? 1?), while blue things like the water are on much higher palette numbers.

What this means for you is that you want to split up your tiles into groups using similar colors (16 or less), then use THA to index them. Each group of tiles that you put through THA will then give you a different palette to use in A-Map.

For your issue where loading the tiles into A-Map messes things up, you need to load the palette into A-Map before loading tiles. Watch/read the tutorial Kostas linked again, and follow the steps VERY carefully.

You have some empty pallets slots so fill the pallets there by Ape or irfan view or T.H.E.
then use this slot with tiles.Hope it helps 0:).

Thanks everyone for the help and patience, it worked, but...
    [PokeCommunity.com] Tile insertion problem.

Everything is borked. Behaviour bytes reset to 0, the tiles change into these white squares with dots, the pallet I made for the ledges and rock seems to have been reset into the default one in the block header, the gender selection displays only Hiker sprites and the map is also borked, even though it's all just grass...I should just get a new ROM.
