Events are Pokemon obtained at Pokemon Events. Shinies are Pokemon found in the wild and are rare that are a different color than normal.

Ok thankyou for explaining. My Nintendo DS lite only came in the post from Amazon this morning. I'm still learning the new features in Pearl. The last version i played was FireRed.

Is there a way i can get a few like lvl 40-60 pokemon so that i can kick ass in the storyline?

I'm attempting to train my *only* fire type pokemon so that i stand a change at the grass type gym in Eterna City. It would be nice if i had a lvl 20 fire type pokemon..
