4th Gen Togepi Egg Help!

Hey guys (:
Just hatched my egg and its a male Togepi.
I wanted a female. I saved it just before it hatches and have continuously turned it off and on and still keep getting males.

My question is the first egg you get (Togepi) can it be female?

That's the problem - stats and gender, etc for the Pokemon in eggs (any Pokemon, mind) get set when you recieve the egg, not when it hatches, so your togepi shall remain male I'm afraid. =/ So ideally you'd have wanted to save before you got the egg and run around until it hatches to see without saving...

(Note also Togepi only have a 12.5% of being female normally as well).
