Quite like multiple other people, I'm wanting to create a rom hack of Pokemon, specifically Fire Red. However, I don't really know where to start. I've got Advanced Map and I've downloaded Skeli's Pokemon Expansion and Fire Red Upgrade.

Are there any recent how to guides or essentials that would be needed for this? I've recently finished Unbound and would love to create something in the same vein (as far as Generation 8 QOL/battle mechanics/expansive Pokedex, etc), but haven't a clue where to start. Everything I'm finding is either really out of date, or filled with broken links.

I know going through this with RPG Maker XP an Essentials might be easier/faster, but I don't think you can export the game for a GBA rom, besides, I've been wanting to learn python anyway, so thought that this could be a great intro to that as well.

If any are interested, I've already planned the title and have been working on a title screen. The basis for my project would eliminate the gyms and replace them with "Generals" that would have to be defeated, have Pokemon up to Scarlet/Violet, but take place in a more fuedal setting than the more modern setting of most Pokemon games. I'd love to incorporate the mining aspect that Unbound has as I've always loved that part of Diamond/Pearl. I'd want to impliment some forms of customization for the MC, missions, RPG style dungeons which would include back tracking puzzles in vein of something like Resident Evil or old school Legend of Zelda. Day/Night cycle and seasons would also be something I'd like to include.
