I'm kinda having some doubts about the tools showcase. Are we only supposed to release our tools and post about new tool releases there or is asking for help allowed too.

Need programs to help you on certain aspects such as IPS Patching, Hacking, or managing ROMs? Over here, you can find topics for tools you might find you need. And helpfully provided is a topic (sticked) which will provide official Tool Releases.

This kinda tells us, asking for help is allowed but is not that clear and there is a bit of confusion prevailing there, so I hope some one could clear my doubt.

I think you guys should rename "General Hack Help/Emulation Discussion" to "General Hack & Emulation discussion" as another forum called "General Rom-Hacking questions" exists and members can ask help in either of the forums.

TS is for displaying your hacking tools to others, hence the "showcase" in "Tools Showcase".

As for that particular subforum, I'm guessing the "help" was an accident.

Yeah, I've read a dictionary before so I could guess Showcase means "Displaying your Products, etc". XD! But don't you feel the forum description tells you can ask for Tools Help here in an indirect sort of way?

Oh! I do hope it was an accident. But do you think an accident would remain unnoticed for so long a time - as much as 5 months.

Anyway thanks for atleast posting here Ty, I was almost about to Double post. I should have just PM'ed Jake for this but he's too busy and doesn't reply to that much PM's.

Actually, from what I understand, double posting is allowed if there's a considerable time span between the two posts - say, 24 hours. ^_^;

And all help questions regarding hacking tools go in General ROM Hacking Questions.

Yeah, I remember reading a S-Kun thread stating Double Posting is allowed when
1) When the 2nd post is 2 days(minimum) after the 1st one
2) When is the 2nd post is completely Irrelavant to the first
3) When it is not used to bump the thread up
4) When it is an announcement or something like that but unfortunately

Well the Tool Showcase forum was made for the displaying of tools being made by other users. We didn't really go into the whole asking questions there since that would just make the whole forum filled up with questions and therefore make the forum useless. Thats why Satoshi said that all the tool questions go on "GRHQ".
The whole point of "General Hack Help/Emulation Discussion" was for users to ask for specific help on their hacks and not rom hacking questions as there is a difference between, the words "general" and "specific" General questions like tools quesions, repoints, hex codes and more can be asked in "GRHQ" as to lets say your stuck on a part in your hack that you need help only on that, then you ask in "GHH/ED".
"GHH/ED" is also for any emulation talk, or discussion like that of emulators, patches, and other things, with the excepion of rom postings or linking to webs.
