The Evolved forms of shinies are supposed to keep their color, which in this case is the Red Gyrados. But magicarp is already red.

its possible that it was the navel rock lugia and this person or the previous owner soft-resetted until he got one. and plus this person could have cloned his shiny lugia before trading. anything is possible. afterall i traded my shiny rayquaza away for a shiny turtwig. not before i cloned the ray though...:)
