As you can probably guess, I'm kind of new to pokemon in general, so for all of you pokemon experts out there this is going to be a really newbish question xD.

I'm just wondering if it's possible to trade a pokemon to someone else without receiving one in return? I'm presuming so, I just want to make sure before I do it myself. I've seen a few give-away threads so I'm presuming you don't need to give a pokemon back in order to do this?

Thanks in advance!

Sadly I don't believe there is....it'd be really cool if there was though

Nope. A trade is always two-way.

The threads you're seeing will generally require you to catch a overly common throwaway pokémon to send to the other user.

I've seen and heard certain instances usually over GTS where people loses their pokemon. Or maybe if someone has shut off their system in the midst of a trade it may occur. Otherwise no, you don't lose your pokemon. In terms of giveaways it is like Timbjerr said, usually they want a common throw away pokemon that they will probably just release which is what they were more then likely referring to.

And I'm sorry but this isn't a question about the forums themselves so this is not the board for it D:
