[Battle] Trainer Battle Glitch - I Switch Bodies with the Trainer?

I have been working on a rom for a bit and have gotten around to adding trainer battles. I am new to this and am quite confused.

The battle works. I am certain I have done most everything right. The problem appears to be if I save in the area, encounter a wild battle, or do anything that refreshes the game. I switch out of my player and become the trainer I am trying to battle. It only happens before I battle them. This does not happen after. Any idea what is causing this or how to fix it? If this has been answered in another thread, please direct me to that. I don't know what is going on.

One of the "look down" npc movement bytes as a-map shows it is actually broken and causes this. Change it to another look down byte, or even just "no movement" since they look down by default
