6th Gen Trainer schools

    While this was mentioned in the tutorials thread, this actually never got into detail.

    In every game there's a trainer school with usually some sort of role in the games, although not usually very major.

    Would you like the trainer schools to return? Would you like to actually get enrolled in a certain class, and compete "homework" over a course of weeks, with a Berry or something as a reward? The homework could involve getting into a certain amount of battles or something along those games, but whatever helps you learn more. As an added bonus, the schools could help increase the amount of EXP you learn after each "test" you pass, or something along those lines that really makes it feel like you're learning. Then eventually "graduating" and being rewarded with something? How else could this be more applicable to the games? Do you have any other ideas that could make the trainer schools more useful than just an add-on in the games which have no real use?

    Also if this happened, do you think if enrolling Pokemon trainers in the schools would be a positive message to the players from GF? And might actually motivate actual children to stay in school...?
     
    ahh, trainer schools, what a waste & i hated them

    but i do like ur idea of putting in some sort of homework system and blahblah woopedy blop

    i think erm, trainer schools should have trainers in them who you can face but they must be rematch-able & get stronger everytime after they've loss to help with training and so

    thats my personal opinion, it might help children to like school more but they might daydream and think of pokemon the whole day tho, it may backfire
     
    They've sort of did that for BW... a little bit. Where you answer some questions in school and they award you with a Lum berry. Buuut it'd be cool if say, your character was in school, and as part of the curriculum, you go on this journey with your pokemon. As for homework for rewards, I can honestly see that as some sort of side-quest! And yeah, the awards can vary - from berry to say, eggs, and EXP.

    As for motivational purposes, it can be a cool way to learn about pokemon if you haven't already.
     
    It'd be a nice thing to have. It would also feel pretty nice to see your teacher catch you later on in your journey and see how what they taught was applied to your training, etc. and be proud of you for doing so well. I think it could be a touching moment, haha.

    The homework, etc. could offer the smaller rewards like berries and potions and stuff to help you out and then your graduation reward could be something really useful like a new hold item. Them catching up with you sometime after graduation though and liking what they see, they could really offer something good.
     
    I hope they do what they did in B2/W2 and have trainer with specific strategies, like the Levitate Pokémon guy in Striation City. I'd like to see things like Trick Room Teams all the way to an entry hazards team. And maybe they could change every day.

    Kind of like a second professor in a way! Perhaps the other one is a professor of education and they're the one that wants you to complete the PokeDex, while the other one is just a guiding one and gives you your main Pokemon to be "nice"? Both would randomly appear but the first... would be more proud??

    Perhaps they could be the main professor as well? It wouldn't surprise me if the professor of a region wanted to teach newer trainers about Pokemon in general while still keeping up their usual studies in whatever area it is that they study. That could also give them more reason to be the ones who give new trainers their first Pokemon(tying in with that other thread).

    I really liked the idea someone brought up about having us obtaining a Pokemon by doing well in school.

    Oh ya maybe. But then that means they would be specialising in learning, rather than anything else. I don't really think of that as a really interesting specialisation tbh. It's like Fennel, I'd rather have someone separate to be our "teacher" lmao.

    Ya especially if they're rare/have special moves!
     
    Well not really. Plenty of teachers know a lot of stuff outside of the area that they teach/have other interests. They could be interested in an specific area(cba thinking up one right now, haha) yet also enjoy teaching more of the basics to new, upcoming trainers.

    I guess the main problem with that would be juggling their time teaching the kids in a normal school session and their time being out and exploring, learning, and discovering more about that area they specialise in. In that way I could see them being two different people. Hell, maybe they could be good friends themselves.
     
    True interaction with the Trainer School would be a wonderful idea.

    As previously stated, having the protagonist enrolled as a student would definitely be a twist on things. I'd prefer if the main character had just graduated and, as his/her reward, he/she receives his/her Trainer License and Starter Pokemon from the region's professor (Who is also the Trainer School teacher/principle).

    As you progress, the Professor would give you "assignments" to capture X amount of different Pokemon or to capture a specific species for him/her to later study. As a reward (Similar to R/B/Y/G), the Professor would award you with varying gifts, ranging from a simple Potion to a coveted Lucky Egg or Rare Candy. After possibly filling the region's PokeDex, the Professor could award you by giving you an Egg containing a random Starter Pokemon from a different region.
     
    Trainer schools, something that we've noticed in every single Pokémon game, but they never even provided anything amazing other than maybe an item from the player's friends and the board showing status ailments in battle and telling you about their effects.

    But what if the trainer's school had things that actually had a purpose, such as battling? That would be fantastic.

    What if the story of the game at the beginning was similar to Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia? Where you actually start off at a school and with the starter Pokémon you've raised from the Egg, you actually battle the trainers in the school while being taught about the basics of battle, as well as item use as well. Then the day before you graduate, you actually are taught about catching Pokémon and using a Poké Ball, then you're given 5 Poké Balls. And then after that... you've graduated!

    That would be an interesting concept of a trainer's school that would actually serve a real purpose than just having a board about status ailments.

    For a professor it'd be strange spending all their time doing that and rather than studying their specific interest though imo unless they specialised in studying the minds of young children brainwashing!

    But thing is you wouldn't be in the school the whole way and only at the start which is less exciting :(
