I've been having this doubt for a while, I seriously hope someone may be able to help me. I'm troubled by the different ways you may train a Pokémon. Let's say you want to train a Bulbasaur from scratch, and maybe you consider equipping it with an Exp. Share and take advantage of the Elite Four.
You want your Bulbasaur to learn Solarbeam faster, so you don't evolve it. However, Bulbasaur will continue to grow it's stats slowly (you didn't evolve it). According to Bulbapedia, Bulbasaur has a 65 for Base Stats regarding Sp.Atk. If you evolve it, let's say, to a Venusaur, this value for Sp.Atk would rise up to 100. There's clearly a difference between the 65 in Bulbasaur's stats and the 100 in Venusaur's stats that may seem important for us if, let's say, you're training Effort Values.
What I get from this is that, if you don't evolve your Pokémon, by the time it reaches a certain level, it will learn moves faster (Solarbeam for Bulbasaur in level 46, and for Venusaur level 53). However, if not evolved, its stats will, in exchange, not grow to the full potential.
My question is the following: If after acquiring the moves you want for your Pokémon you evolve it (Bulbasaur at level 46 with Solarbeam learned), will the newly evolved Ivysaur, and then Venusaur have the same stats it would had had if the Ivysaur had evolved to a Venusaur (and previously Bulbasaur into Ivysaur) at level 36?
I hope I made myself clear. If any clarifications are needed please do tell me.
