i know im not the only one sick of seeing locked topics, they bury active topics and kill them Dx

why dont you make a hidden trash section and move all the topics there?

or at least delete locked topics.

Nah. Go look at the locked threads and learn from mistakes. Plus I don't want to hear "oh hurblurdur my threads gone oh no what'd that evil mod do hurburdurdbudooo". We could delete them, but only the really bad ones (such as posting pornography and such) and the advertising ones get that treatment.

If someone sees a locked topic above an active topic, they're still more likely to post in the active topic. So I don't see how it would really affect these active threads. Besides, it's not like you can't post on a thread after it's a certain number of threads down.

im talking about when the topics are low and some noob guy posts 6 topics on random crap and the active topic gets pushed back a page.

and whats so bad with deleting locked topics? they're only clogging things up

Locking topics preserves postcount (not that we actually care) and shows examples of the threads you shouldn't be making.

ok fair enough but i know some people deliberately post on topics that are going to be locked just to get the post count...

Also, to add to this, sometimes we use locked threads as resources for future endeavors, particularly in the ROM Hacking section, where we reuse information frequently. Sometimes threads are locked simply because someone bumped it, but it's still of use to other people.

Not really. No one can post in them when they're locked, but the active ones can be posted in so the locked ones eventually get moved back.

Haha, well that's just their problem. ;)

Also in the fanfiction section - locked works are still works. Often, they're unlocked when or if the writer writes more to add onto it (most of us hiatus for months at a time), so deleting it... =|
