Trends

Throughout Generations from Generation there are things that seem constant and bound to happen. So I am curious what do you think are common trends, trends that will continue, and trends that you think will either end now or in near generations? Do you support these trends? Or do you wish some one end for good or stop for a few generations?

Examples being ones like Ash losing in the league, replacing the female companion since Johto, Ash rival generally being ahead of him through out the Saga, etc.

The trends so far are:
-Ash getting a Fire, Water and Grass Pokemon in the region (usually the starter Pokemon, though Hoenn and Sinnoh are exceptions)
-Whenever Ash goes to a new region, he only takes Pikachu with him, except for Sinnoh, when Aipom followed Ash
-James having overaffecionate Grass Pokemon that hurt him (which possibly ended in Sinnoh)

That's all I have for now. I support all of those trends.

- As long as they handle the starters right I am fine. But to me Johto starters weren't handled very well and it was partly due to a good deal of the early part as a transitional period from Kanto team to Johto team.

- I can see this recent trend continue but him taking Oshawott would be awesome or if he had a late capture or maybe Gible I would be happy with that as well. Maybe one of his past generation pokemon has a new evolution in the next Generation like Aipom did.

- About the only lines I see viable for James would be Foongus or Ferroseed(whom I believe has yet to debut). But with the lack of involvement with TR this Saga there relate isn't a need for one.

I think as long as collecting all 8 badges are a key component to the game they will also be a key component to the anime qualifying for the league. So I really don't see that change unless they also change it in the game which I don't see happening any time soon and I mean for a long time.

I still say as I did there I don't see that happening nor do I want that to be a trend or something they drew from the transition from Kanto/Orange Islands to Johto.

- I can see a pokemon not obeying again, whether it be Ash or another traveling companion who knows but it seems they like to use that angle.

- And one thing I think they may break in the up coming generations is him not winning a League. I gotta think this has to happen some day. Cynthia referred to a Champions League or something of sorts so there is always something after.

- I'd also like to see a Water Starter evolve for once. I have a feeling as much screen time as Oshawott getting he has as good a chance as any of his predecessors did. If you look at it all Ash Fire/Grass starters either evolved or had the chance to a some time or another(alluding to Bulbasaur of course). So give the Water starters some love already.
