Here are some card effects people get confused with, maybe this would help, somewhat.
<Lava Golem>
Its effect lasts until it is sent to the gravyard, the effect is used to curse the opponent with a loss of 1000 life points each turn, with this in mind, you are not allowed to control Lava Golem, its your opponent's monster. As long as that effect is active, in at the start of a duel, in 8 turns, your opponent's life points are gone. Prevent your opponent from attacking and/or using Lava Golem as a tribue Summon until his/her life points drain to 0.
<Fiber Jar>
The word "unite" means to put the cards together, in result, you unite your graveyard, hand, field and deck, shuffle then draw.
<Dark Necrofear>
Removing 3 fiend monsters in your graveyard from play and letting Dark necrofear destroyed from battle, you are allowed to turn Dark Necrofear into a equip spell card and equip to one of your opponent's monsters, with that in mind, you control the equipped monster.
<Widespread Ruin>
ITs "declare an attack" not when its the damage step, you destroy the strongest monster on your opponent's side of the field. If the attacking monster isn't the most strongest, the attack isn't negated.
<Enchanted Javelin>
You get the difference from your monster attacking the opponent's mosnter, (eg. Flameswordsman >> Dark Magician, You increase your lifepoints by 700) the attack ISN'T negated. When your opponent attacks your lifepoints, NOTHING happens, your lifepoints nor increase or decrease.
