I have been experimenting with different shading styles ever since I began making pixel art. Anyways... enough talking, let's get on with the art ^_^

[PokeCommunity.com] Trying out different shading styles
< My latest work. Shading it was a pain in the neck, but I'm very pleased with how it came out ^_^

[PokeCommunity.com] Trying out different shading styles
< The waves suck and I was too lazy to shade the sea -_- The only thing I like about that one is the Dratini

[PokeCommunity.com] Trying out different shading styles
< The Sableye looks a little fat imo. I'm very statisfied with that one though (probally because I like shiny things =P)

    anyways... C&C people

    *edit* forgot my Chinchou X_X
[PokeCommunity.com] Trying out different shading styles
< The shading on that one sucks, 'nuff said -_-

*edit2* I just finished my kawaii Tentacruel (yes, I think Tentacruel is cute ^_^)
[PokeCommunity.com] Trying out different shading styles
*tackleglomps Tentacruel* what do you think of it? Bleh... the normal one looks horrible >.> I <3 the shiny one though.

ps. The Tentacruel is supposed to look like it's lying on a rock. I haven't bothered to make the background yet though -_-

*edit3* Since I think my last two works turned out incredible, I decided to put them on my first post =D

Very cool pics, Smarties-kun! I think my fave has to be the Chinchou - I don't think the shading sucks at all! The Sableye's eyes are also very nice and have a lot of detail put into them! Plus, you rock automatically for having drawn a Tentacruel, one of my fave Pok?mon. XD

Criticism-wise, I'd suggest making the lines a bit neater - they're a bit wobbly in places, especially on the Sableye pic - you seem to be using the Curve tool already though, so that'll improve with time! If you shrink a pic down, you can always go over the lines again so they don't appear half-eaten and speckly!

I'm very impressed by your pixel-style shading :D It's awesome! ^^ You have some awesome talent ;) Never stop drawing! *hugs!*

i like your images, i love the tentacruel heads... especially the gooy parts
who know in a few years you'll be better than Forest Grovyle

Thanks ^_^ You really think the shading on the Chinchou is good? =O I only like the shading on the electric sacks >.>

Yea... the Sableye turned out rather weird >.> Back then, I was very impatient to get my pixel art done and I actually don't use the curve tool at all. I do all my lines either using the straight line tool or the pencil tool, I think the lines look smoother that way.

I'm very impressed by your pixel-style shading :D It's awesome! ^^ You have some awesome talent ;) Never stop drawing! *hugs!*
Thanks once again ^_^ I'm going to try out yet another way of shading when I start on my next pixel art

Plus, you rock automatically for having drawn a Tentacruel, one of my fave Pok?mon. XD
W00T! Someone else who likes Tentacruel ^_^ I absolutely adore Tentacruel *tackleglomps a Tentacruel again*

Better than Forest Grovyle? O_O Don't get your expectations too high, you'll just be dissapointed...

    Thanks ^_^
Next time, try out for a Kagome pic :P
I would, if I knew I wouldn't mess it up :P The only part of the human I can make are the eyes -.-

It's so awesome to meet another person who likes Tenta...I often use him in my team, and have a lv100 one with Mirror Coat :D He rules, and surprises a lot of people! hehe!
Which Pok?mon will you be drawing next? :)

Another one who likes Tentacruel with Mirror Coat? =O ZOMG! I absolutely love a Tentacruel with Mirror Coat, it totally pwns all electric types you run into. Anyway... I'm currently making a Raikou. I'm having a little trouble with the legs though, especialy the claws >.>

Oh, awesome! hehe! Yeah, my Tentacruel is named after Boromir from LoTR :D I think it has Mirror Coat, Surf, Ice Beam and something else I can't remember XD Maybe Sludge Bomb...it's not the best moveset but I just use it because it's always been one of my fave Pok?mon ^^

With the Raikou claws, always make sure they're all pointing in the same direction and all face the same point. :) They're quite hard to get right - if you need any help feel free to PM me with your WIP and I can try and redline it for ya! :)

Hey, those are pretty cool! I like the Tentacruel best, I think the shading on them is nicest.

Atleast Ice Beam takes care of those pesky dragon types =P

Anyway... thanks for the offer, but I prefer doing everything myself. That way, I'll learn something too ^_^

ZOMG! I just finished my Raikou ^_^
[PokeCommunity.com] Trying out different shading styles
There are a couple of different versions of it and the last one is getting ready to shock you =P O_O =O (< fear teh overuse of smilies). I know the right back and front legs look horrible, but I don't have much time on the comp left (about seven minutes), so I'll fix them tomorrow. I'm really pleased with how the eyes came out though, it just comes to show, I always succeed in making shiny things o.O

    You're welcome ^^

Wow, the Raikou looks great! I like the way you've done the tail...hehehe...he looks pretty angry! XD The cloud on his back also looks awesome! And I agree with you on the eyes, they're so pretty! ^^
As for crit, I think the neck area looks a little thin, and his body might be a little elongated...but these are very minor problems :D You've done yourself proud here! *huggles!*

Oh, I forgot to ask, would you like to be friends? :D

Wow, nice. But the raikiu could use a little agusments too tho.The back is good but the head and {front}legs look wierd. The other ones are good! Exept thet sableye does look a bit to fat around the ypper body part. anyway i hope to see more.

I think it's great that you're experimenting with some shading. At your age, many kids don't even know what shading means. O_o And it looks like you're playing around with highlights as well as shading, that's cool.

One of the things you should try is to increase the contrast between the different shades. For instance, on your Raikou, there's a big difference between the main yellow and the darker orange. That helps it stand out. If you apply that same concept to your Sableye, it would greatly improve the effect since right now, it looks rather pale.

*Repost2* It's kinda pointless to wait for this thread to die, then make a new one. So I'll just keep on reposting this post untill someone comments on my new art, so there :P

Doesn't anyone want to comment on the fixed Raikou? ;_; Anyway... I reposted this post to inform people that a Dragonair will be my next victim and to put a new post on this thread so people will think there's something new here, even though in reality there isn't

I know about the legs -.- They are facing the wrong way, but as my post said, I didn't have time to fix them. I'll start working on them soon though. Thanks for the comments and critisism ^_^

It's supposed to look angry, don't forget he/she's getting ready to shock you o.O

Now that you mention it, yes the neck does seem a little thin. I'll fix that too ^_^

I suppose I have ^_^ I have finally fulfilled the dream I have had since I was a little kid, to make Pok?mon illustrations that is ^_^

ZOMG! I never thought a mod would ask that from me O_O Sure we can be friends ^_^

Thanks ^_^ I am quite aware of most people my age not even knowing what shading is. I became aware of that when I saw some of my classmates messing around on paint -_- And they even used *gasp* custom paint colors. It was just... scary o.O Anyway... thanks for the c&c (I'm too lazy to write long words like comments and criticism X_X)

I fixed some shading on the head yesterday, but forgot to post the new version >.> Anyway... here it is.
[PokeCommunity.com] Trying out different shading styles

Anyways... I'm going to redo some things today:

    1. I'll fix the legs so they'll look more natural
    2. I'll redo the neck
    3. I'll add some more shades to the picture
And last, but not least, I'll make a background, but I won't get it done today, because i have to read to an evil test, do my homework and go to judo >.>

Anyways... off to work X_X (I can't seem to be able to write a post without that smiley included X_X < See? There it is again =P)

*edit* I just finished fixing up the legs.
[PokeCommunity.com] Trying out different shading styles
As you can see, I completely redid the right back leg and both front legs. I'm still tidying up the right front leg though. It's killing me >.>

*edit2* Finally got the leg to look good. I know the shading on it looks a little weird right now, but it will look better once I add a little more shades
[PokeCommunity.com] Trying out different shading styles

*edit* Forget about what I said about Dragonair at the top of the post. I got a sudden urge to make pixel art of Misty, my favourite Pok?mon character of all time
[PokeCommunity.com] Trying out different shading styles
I'm planning to make pixel art of the Kanto cast and their Pok?mon (including Gary and Team Rocket)

Wow, that Raikou looks great! :D You've really improved it! ^_^ And that pic of Misty...it's amazing! I love the shading on her, and the pixel outlining is very good! I think the orange of her hair looks like it's overlapping the outline at some points, but other than that I think it's great! ^^

You're really doing yourself proud here ;) Keep it up!

    Nice drawings!
    They are all cool!

You are ready to move onto bigger things!

    Keep it up.

Thanks ^_^ I compared the other legs to the left fron leg and noticed they weren't muscular enough to belong to Raikou so I I completely redid the legs =D

Thanks again =D I'm suprised how well the Misty turned out, it's the first time I ever made a whole human body. Whenever I have tried to draw or make pixel art of a human before I only made the head for some reason O.o

They aren't really drawings, since they're made in MSpaint. So I think it's classified as digital art (pixel art to be more precise). Thanks for the comments though ^_^

Bigger things? What do you mean by that?

I think all the pictures are great! ^^ I perticularly <3 the tentacruels! They're awesome! ^^
