Trying to RNG and all that

    So i've been reading into how to RNG, and it seems pretty confusing but I think I understand it. The problem for me to get started is I dont know my SID; and I have no luck randomly finding a shiny. Does the shiny for me to find my SID have to be caught on my game? Or can it be traded from someone else?

    TL;DR Can the shiny for SID be traded or does it have to be caught?
     
    Your SID will be on a Pokemon with your game's TID, so no, traded Pokemon won't work. There are RNG guides and an RNG discussion thread in Trade Corner though, where you can ask instead. You'll get much better help there. Also consider stopping by the #tradecorner irc channel. There's a link in Trade Corner somewhere, but yeah, the people in there would help you a lot. They helped me, so I'm the best person to tell you that haha.
