TV now, and TV then...

Most television is boring. Many networks are afraid to take a chance on anything new because it it is not an instant hit, it either gets yanked or moved around so nobody can find it. I enjoy all three CSI & Law & Order shows. I also liked Trial By Jury but it was in the Friday death slot. With the success of pay cable origionl programing, the mainstream networks feel they must add sex,and vulgarity to compete. Its the pressure to attract tha all improtant 18-34 demographic that everyone else can go to hell. I was insulted by the programming when I was in that age group.

Also interfearance by The Powers That Be can foul up our favorite shows as well. For example, when J. Michael Strazinski created Cursade, the Babylon 5 spinoff, TNT wanted a cobination of Lust In Space & WCW wrestling inserted into the scripts. Instead of compromising his baby Strazinski pulled it from the air without ever resolving the stroy line.

I have just about given up on Cartoon Network, nearly all of its shows follow the formula that "adults are evil and kids are great." Yes a minority of adults cause a mojority of the problems, the rest of us are just trying our best to provide and survive. If I want classic animation, I need to watch Boomerang (but I HATE the recolored Fleisher Popeye cartoons) or purchase the DVDs.

I just wish someone would get the American broadcast rights to Doctor Who. Perhaps it isn't deritive enough for some programmers. Guess I'll need to get a multi region DVD player to be able to watch it. I don't do Bit Torrent.

TV isn't getting worse. We're all just nostalgic for the shows that we loved when we were younger. Some of my favorite cartoons from when I was a kid startle me when I watch them again because of the overall cheesiness of the writing, but I love them all the same. It's the same reason adults complain about how everything was so great in their day.

I like the good old cartoons like Wacky Racers, Scooby Doo (without scrappy), Flintstones, Jetsons, X-men, Spider Man etc. the new catroons arn't what they used to be...

There are a lots TV shows I like such as punk'd, pimp my ride, dirty sanchez, league of gentlemen, monkey trousers. I find most dramas boring to be honest, I cant watch 24 or CSI, they put me to sleep.

TV has change. TV was better when there was no Volience in the world.
um... there has always been violence in the world. or at least since wayyyy before TV was invented. i don't think TV's getting worse. it's always been mostly pathetic. there are ocationaly good shows now, as there were ocationally good shows in the past. we don't have awesome shows like the original twilight zone anymore but until recently we had excellent shows like the x-files. so... in my opinion, TV's never been all that great (as a whole) but there are always exceptions. todays exceptions are inferior to those of the past but not to the point of sucking.

You want to know which channel has bombed the most?

Nickelodeon.

In the 90's everything was all good, Ren & Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life, Are You Afraid of the Dark?, (Doug used to on there) etc, but NOW, Nick just...BOMBED. Seriously, the shows have gotten very, very, stupid to the point where they not even funny. They're disturbing/very stupid. Lastly, ALMOST ALL of the shows are QUITE RECENT, dating back to 1999. Now it looks like they erased all of the old-school potential that it used to have, if they didn't create such crapp shows like...
  • My Life as a Teenage Robot
  • Fairly-Odd Parents
  • And I'm not even going to say the last one, because this show has been WAY too popular for WAY too long, and there have been recent rumors that he is gay. He's not only making Nick crap, but America itself. You want to know who he is?(hilite to view) Spongebob
Those are my thoughts. Otherwise, I lay off of Nick and CN unless Code: Lyoko is on CN.

Some of Nickelodeon's cartoons are actually pretty good. Spongebob is awesome, Jimmy Neutron often makes me laugh, and even the Fairly Oddparents has at least given me an occasional chuckle. Though, I admit it has some shows that I'm a lot less fond of, but I assure you if these shows were on in the mid-90s, everyone would look back at them as the greatest shows ever.

TV back then for me was well more entertaining, I could watch it all day and just sit infront of the couch all summer. Then I pushed my Dad out of the chair(not really but you get it hopefully) so I could have my time consumed on the computer. Today's shows are okay, just depends what's on with all those channels. I'm usually used to 1000 channels where I used to live before, but being limited to 120 on the satellite here is alright. Degrassi, a new show(well new to me) I've become fond of, is pretty entertaining and I'll beg for them to change the channel to that so I can record the episode. <_< There are some other good shows too, but it's probably just me agreeing with their teen angst.
