Name: Mercury Beryl
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Appearance:
Human form

Mercury is somewhat tall, at 5' 10". She's not often praised for her looks, but since she prefers to work all day and maintain human contact only when necessary, appearances don't matter much to her. She wears a lab coat, since that was what she died in, and jeans. Her shoes are rather special to her-- the silk wings sewn onto them are handmade by her mother, and they're her only link to her family now. (The picture has her carrying sets of test tubes-- you can ignore those, they serve as her psychs but since this is a Pokemon RP it's different.)

Spoiler:

In her Palkia form, her skin turns more pinkish-purple as opposed to yellow. Purple lines run all along her body, from the sides of her neck to her arms, down to her feet and tail. Glowing jewels appear on the tops of her arms, and spectral wings unfold from her shoulders (she can't fly with them, they're just for decoration really). She also has a ridge that runs down the top of her head, but it's generally hidden by her hair. Her fingernails turn into claws, and she has a short stubby tail.

Personality: Her personality changed majorly as her entry fee, but: in-game, she's sarcastic and somewhat lazy. She avoids work and battles as much as possible, and will complain if forced into doing anything. What she does, she does fairly well, but she'll always go for the easy way out: the cheap kill, or escaping if an enemy seems particularily tough. She doesn't get along too well with other people, because as she says, "They're always trying to make me do stuff." She bonds more for convenience than for friendship-- this part of her personality was the same before she died.

Pre-death, she was a stoic, no-nonsense type. She would often work late into the night, and always had her eyes set forward. She was bossy and commanding, and would often take over managing the lab while her parents were traveling.

She has a soft side, although it's not easy to locate: she loved her parents dearly and always wears the wing-shoes to be reminded of them; she also will not tolerate cruelty to Pokemon.

History: Mercury was born in Hoenn, in Rustboro city. Her father was a head executive of Devon corp., producer of technological innovations of all kinds, and her mother was a chemist for the same company. She grew up in Rustboro until she was six, when her dad got promoted to Division manager in Sinnoh, and they moved to Jubilife city. She doesn't remember much of Hoenn-- her earliest memory is of walking down the beach with her mother and seeing the Wingulls wheeling over their heads.

Her parents homeschooled her since she was four. The family had its own private lab as well as the large corporate one where most of the employees were. Her parents oversaw projects that developed and produced new innovations for all aspects of life, but in particular medical ones-- her mom was hailed as the inventor of the regenerative compound that was the main ingredient in commercial Potions. She would often stay up late reading textbooks and learning advanced chemistry-- how do some Pokemon breathe fire? What goes on in the body during evolution, exactly? She was taught to approach the world on the basis that nothing is mystical and that everything can be explained.

When she was ten, she directed and successfully carried off her first experiment while her parents were away on a business trip. Since then, she had helped out in the corporate lab during the week, and tried out what she learned in private at their own home lab. She had her sights set on college, and after that she would help unwravel the many mysteries surrounding the world. She would have, if she had survived.

On the fateful day she died, they were laboring under a deadline-- they needed to test and confirm to be safe a new kind of fusion reactor, one that could provide energy for an entire city if used correctly. The Sinnoh government was offering them unimaginable sums of money for it. Every single employee was up late, working overtime to try and get it to work. Mercury, so wrapped up in what they were about to achieve, let her concentration slip and grabbed a tray of chemicals to insert into the generator, not realizing that she hadn't gotten the purified batch. Five minutes later, all the machinery was overheating and none could figure out why. When she realized what she had done and ran to warn someone, the reactor exploded. The blast leveled the building, killing everyone inside.

Entry Fee: Her ambitiousness. While Mercury was alive, she had everything to look forward to: she was going to succeed her father as director of the Sinnoh branch of Devon corp., attend college and become a world-renowned biochemist. She was dedicated to working towards any goal, and with her determination challenges and obstacles melted away before her. Not so in the Game-- she's been stripped of all ambition and determination, leaving her lazy, sarcastic, and perpetually bored. Not a very good survival tactic.

Spirit: Palkia

Partner Pins:
Electabuzz: he was the source of power for the lab where her parents worked, who also died in the explosion. Mercury worked closely with him in many ways, and while their friendship was more of a boss-employee relationship than a pokemon-trainer, she appreciated him.

Shellos (east Sea): Shellos is an anomaly. He (or she, or it; she doesn't really know) was a specimen for an experiment that her lab was working on collaboratively with Galactic Energy, inc. She was inexperienced with using live subjects for experiments, and this particular one involved forcing Pokemon to evolve by injecting them with a serum. However, when the live Shellos was subdued and placed in front of her, Mercury couldn't bear to do it-- the creature was obviously in pain, and there was no telling whether the experiment would go wrong. So she stopped, and waited until nobody else was around before taking Shellos, smuggling it out, and releasing it. It was revealed later that Galactic's dealings were illicit, and Devon severed all ties with them.

Chatot: She attended Trainer school for half a year when she was thirteen in order to get credits for college, and passed with flying colors. Throughout that time, Chatot had been her assigned Pokemon.

I'll jump right in as well.
-------------

Mercury blinked her eyes open and sat up, groaning. She ached in a thousand places, as if she had been beaten. Rubbing the back of her neck, she took in her surroundings. She'd been lying in an unfamiliar alley, but as for how she got there, even she didn't know. Had the explosion flung her that far? No. No, it definitely hadn't. She remembered the heat. She remembered burning. She checked her arms, which were completely unscarred, except for the scrapes from sleeping on cement.

Where was she?

She suddenly realized that she had been gripping an envelope in her left hand. She examined it; the gront had no writing, but a symbol that resembled a pokeball was on its cover. Huh. She opened it and extracted a single slip of paper.

Find a partner. Finish the mission. Use the pins. You have 7 days. Don't get erased. Oh, and by the way, you're dead.

Of course she was dead. If she was, this must be heaven, or hell, or purgatory. She wasn't even remotely religious-- her parents had raised her to be a strong Atheist-- but suddenly she was unsure. Was she paying the price now for not having believed in Arceus her entire life? She shuddered and pushed the thought out of her mind, studying the slip of paper again.

Find a partner.

What, and work with somebody? Really? She stood up, brushing dust off of her jeans. She wasn't into that kind of thing-- she'd prefer to go it alone. But something about the letter told her that it was of utmost importance that she do. Perhaps the part that said, "don't get erased"? She was already dead, right? Could there be something worse than that? She shuddered, tucking the letter away in a pocket. Well. She might as well do what it said.

Looking around her, she saw about two blocks away a massive statue of a Pokemon, looming over the buildings, and it suddenly clicked in her mind where she was. Eterna City? She'd never visited Eterna, although she'd heard about it. She'd scoffed, before, about their reverance of old legends, and their having built a statue of the Pokemon that had apparently created space. To be able to create space! Again with the absurd claims. Still, something about the statue pulled to her. Her heartbeat quickened when she looked at it-- as if the old Pokemon of legends was telling her to come. She shook her head again to clear it, but set off towards the statue anyway, telling herself that she'd be more than likely to find a partner-- whatever that meant-- around the statue than in some dark alley.

She began walking. Ordinarily, she'd sprint, not wanting to waste time, but her legs still ached. And it wasn't like she was being timed or anything. She had only just left the alleyway when an inhuman shriek echoed through the streets. She spun around just in time to see some sort of Pokemon dive towards her. Yelping, she jumped back and it barreled past her in midair. It was a starly, or it looked sort of like one... but in place of its head and claws was a sort of two-dimensional design, like a tattoo. What the...? where was its brain? How could that structure keep itself up? She didn't have any more time to ask questions, though, since it turned in midair and flew towards her at full speed, its peculiar beak and claws ready to dig into her flesh. She screamed again-- why couldn't anyone hear her?-- and ran for the statue, the bizarre Starly in hot pursuit.

Pokemon. Attacking humans. But, they weren't Pokemon. They were...something else. But what? What could they possibly be? From afar, Zora watched some people being struck by Pokemon, and they seemed defenseless. Wouldn't they have Pokemon, or at least Poke Balls, to defend themselves? This struck Zora as odd, and although she wanted to do something about it, she was trapped in this otherworldly dimension, plus all her Poke Balls seemed to vanish. She then saw others, forming alliances, something possibly needed to take down these strange Pokemon? Zora recalled what she had heard in her mind, and figured that these Pokemon must be what was called "Noise". And she had to "Find a Partner" to take down these Noise. But why would she need someone to slow her down? Why would she need help? She already felt strong enough, it wasn't like anyone forming a "pact" with her or whatever it was would do her any good.

Just then, out of her peripheral vision, Zora saw movement behind the statue. Turning around, there was nothing. But, as looks can be deceiving, the statue's eyes turned a ruby red. This might've startled anyone with half a mind, and even force unusually jumpy people into a coma, but Zora just stood there. She knew what was to come. She knew it was bad, and she didn't like it. Eventually, a purple haze began foaming out of the ruby red eyes, and once the haze took a form, the eyes came out with it.

A Haunter. Not something one would see in the day, it was more common at night. Or in that haunted chateau in the forest. But to be out here, in Eterna, in what seemed to be the light of day, it was rather odd. Turning to run, Zora realized this creature was much quicker than she expected. She was on the ground in no time. Reaching into her pocket, hoping to find anything, ANYTHING to help her, she pulled out what seemed to be three pins. Strangely enough, these pins had Pokemon on them. But not just any random Pokemon...

Milotic... Ever since she was a Feebas, Saria was always there for me... She became a Milotic, and has since then been the most powerful of my partners...

Umbreon... Her name was Ebony, and she was more or less my family's Pokemon. But they let me keep her by my side. She's my most trusted partner, next to Saria...

Misdreavus. She was only a wild one. Her name was Fia, and she resided in the Old Chateau. I examined her, and eventually we became allies. She has come in from long distances and helped me numerous times. I could never thank her enough...
The names of her most trusted Pokemon crossed Zora's head. But how the hell was she supposed to use PINS of Pokemon to fight back? Dammit, maybe getting a partner is the only way...

Not thinking ahead, Zora suddenly shouted, "Anyone who's part of this game and has Noise trouble, form a pact with me now!" She immediately regretted speaking out, not only because she wanted to find a way to handle this on her own, but because this only caught the attention of more Noise of all shapes and sizes. They headed her way, and Zora figured it was over for her. She'd form a pact, and it'd be over. She'd become Noise chow, and it'd be over. But she wanted to live. Even though her heart was full of disgust for the people around her, she wanted to live. There was something she felt deep inside that commanded her to feel that way, and one way or another, she'd try and get herself to live...

The young man (Alex had to stop calling him that) lowered his leg. "Oh thank Arceus." Alex sighed and fell over. He felt something falling out of his tail, and then heard the things clatter onto the ground. Alex turned around, looking at what he dropped. There were 4 pins on the ground, each having a design to represent different pokemon. He picked them up and looked at them. Three of them he recognized (Snover, Flareon, and Sableye) but fourth one was a complete mystery to him. It was purple, with pink lines leading up to a golden crescent. Inside the crescent, there was a pink dot. The mental phrase came back to him;

Use the pins.

Is this part of what this game is about?
Alex wondered, Using the pins? But how do I use them?

Another phrase came back to him:

Find a partner.

Find a partner... Maybe I could be a partner with the young man (REALLY have to stop calling him that).

"Umm..." Alex said nervously, "Do you think we could be partners? I mean, if it's alright with you..."

Music. Such august, dulcet music. Dara could listen to this bliss all day. The music notes seemed to swirl around her, engulf her. They became one with her. She felt their presence. It was a dream come true, being in this surreal world. Then, that elated feeling drifted far away. She was running now. Running. An orb floated around her, and she was inclined to chase it. Faster. Faster. Each step she took, it seemed she took 7 steps back. The orb was soon out of sight before she knew it. Then, it was dark. Nothing but darkness. Dara sank to her knees and wept. The darkness continued to swallow her... until... until she awoke.

"Where am I...?"

Dara's mind was clouded. She had no memory of where she was or what she was evening doing in the first place. Was it a dream or reality? It seemed like the latter half. in her opinion. She could feel herself being choked by that black abyss. Sitting up, she rubbed her throat. Then, as if a bolt from the blue struck her, her memories floated back into her mind. Dara was sitting in the medical unit of a Pokemon Center in Hearthome. She wasn't sure why her parents took her to a Pokemon Center, she clearly not being a Pokemon, but whatever. She had been here for at least a month, with almost no information on her current state. Was she dying? Was the cancer gone? No one ever informed her.

"That dream... again?"

Dara has been having that dream now for a week. Every night, once she laid down to rest after her medicine, that dreamed entered her mind. It ended the same way, nothing ever changed. She saw the music notes and the golden orb, and then nothing. The blackness ate her alive. Shaking, Dara pulled the covers off of her head and looked up. Around her stood her mother and father and a doctor she had grown quite familiar with.

"She doesn't have much time. There isn't anything we can possibly do, Mr. and Mrs. Satou. The cancer is a rare form, one of which we are still examining. We are sorry, but today is her last day." spoke the doctor. His face was stolid. Dara could not hear what his voice was saying, it was muffled. Were they covering up her ears or something? No... her ears were fine.

"Is there nothing you can do, doctor? Nothing at all? She is our only daughter. Surely there is something you can do! There is some antidote right? She cannot die!" It was her mother's voice this time. Dara was so used to hearing her gentle, cooing voice. Now, it was shaky and distressed. In fact, everyone who spoke seemed to be beside themselves. What in the world was going on in here?

"What?! Die?! No!" Dara screamed as loud as she could. Over and over again, she cried out to everyone. Her mother and father did not hear her. The doctor did not hear her. Soon, she learned all to soon. No matter what Dara did, it was of no avail to her. She was muted by the cancer, and any further protest would be suppressed. Dara was not able to be understood. There would be no communicating with them. And, as if a divine force had acted upon the hospital room, Dara's life was ended. The life support was unplugged, and she plunged back into that familiar darkness. Deeper and deeper she sank.

Now, the darkness had fled. Instead of being swallowed by it, a bright light had chased it away. Was this the other side? Dara was unsure. Shielding her eyes, she tried to prevent herself from being blinded. A voice spoke to her. It had authority. Dara was in complete submission to it, and thus fell upon her knees. Was this God?

"I am not God. Believe me, I am far from it. Use these pins and try to prolong your life for 7 days. Find yourself a partner and complete the mission. Death has never been so exciting, now has it?"

The voice was then gone.

---

Dara landed face down in the cool earth. Bits of dust, dirt, and rock entered into her mouth, causing her to cough and sneeze. The earth did not taste as delicious as one might have thought. Rubbing her eyes and dusting her body off, Dara tried to get a mental picture of where she was. This place, wherever it was, was so familiar. Had she seen it before? Diving deep into her subconscious, Dara tried to place her location.

"Eterna City? Is that where I am?" Dara first thought.

From what Dara could remember from various books and magazines she happened to pick up, this was Eterna City. The geography and every building looked exactly the same. Shaking her head, Dara tried to remember why in the world she was even here. The realization took a moment to come across her mind.

"That voice... what did it say? I was dead? Hm. Dead."

Dead. Now that was an interesting feeling. She didn't feel dead. In fact, she felt her old self. Thinking harder, Dara tried to put a finger on this whole mess. Within about five minutes, that aforementioned realization donged on her.

"I'M DEAD? WHAT?! HOW COULD I DIE? I HAD SO MUCH TO LIVE FOR!"

Dara ran about, flailing her arms too and fro. From the top of her lungs, she screamed out colorful vocabulary words. The sounds that came out of her mouth, however, were none too pleasant. She sounded horrible. Once this atrocious sound entered into her ears, she took a momentary pause.

"What happened to my voice...?" Dara wondered.

Sitting upon a rock, Dara began to recollect the previous events. She was in a hospital bed with throat cancer. She recalled her mother crying while her father attempted to comfort her. The doctor had a seldom look on his face. Dara remembering trying to scream and then... nothing. The scene went from black to white. During this intermission, she heard a voice. Thinking harder, Dara tried to remember what it said.

"Seven days... partner pins... something something."

She hopped up from the rock when something jabbed her in the foot. Teary eyed, she slung off her boot. From the interior lay three shiny pins. From closer inspection, she realized they were Pokemon.

"Hey! There is Politoed... Lopunny... and Eevee!"

All the vivid memories came back to Dara with these pins. Holding them in her palm, she began to walk around, paying no attention to where she was even going.

OCC: Was that too long? :< I think I did it wrong.

The clock on Ken's bedside table blinked 3:00AM, while he awkwardly raised his half asleep body to the edge of his bed. Ken stoically stared out the large bay windows his wealthy step-parents installed for him, as he slowly regained full consciousness. He had begun his "thinking" this morning at an earlier hour than usual. Something was definitely on his mind, actually, something was always on his mind. A spectator's initial opinion of Ken in his current state would be that he was dazed. But this was certainly false. Ken's glassy, deep, emerald eyes seemed empty as they scanned the outside. So naturally a spectator's second opinion of Ken would be that he lost something very dear to him. This in fact, is actually quite true.

Ken longed to remember his origin. Every day, of every week, of every year since he was told he had "no parents", Ken would rack his brain looking, searching, and failing to find anything to lead him to his parents. Ever since he was a very small child Ken seemed to observe more than his peers, he always seemed to know so much about others but nothing of himself. This drove him mad.

Finally, after nearly an hour of his almost ritualistic time of reflection, Ken lifted himself from his bed and silently ambled his way to his bathroom. Ken reached the mirror over his sink and began to stare. He began to (try) thoughtlessly fondling his baby like face features. He realized he was having a harder time "letting go" of his past this morning, not that any other morning was easy. He tore his face from the mirror and started his way down the hall towards the stairs, as he pushed back his feathery hair into a gentle spike which it stayed in on it's own.

Ken's feet led him to his bike, which was parked in his garage. What was he doing? It was still 4:30 in the morning, he had two hours till he had to make his way to prep school. Despite this, Ken still pedaled out of the garage, with his parents on his mind.

Ken took a turn he had never made before. He was beginning to pedal harder, he was picking up speed. Ken's own mind was fighting itself. One side declared he was in a state of delirium: "Get some rest poor little Kenjiro, you haven't slept in a long time!" While the other half declared his longing for parents: "You can find them Ken! Just keep pedaling, you'll find them! You'll remember, I promise!"

Ken's vision began to blur, but he kept raging down the street. Hot streaks of tears began to poor down from his eyes, he slowly began to sob saying,

"I…. I will find them…. I promise to myself that, somehow I will finally come to know who they, who----who, who I am!"

As he speedily approached the next corner a blaring light enveloped Ken's vision. And "BAM!", Ken was hit by a bus.
_______________________________

The viscous light from the bus didn't fade from Ken's eyes after he was hit. The short sudden pain was gone, but the light was still so bright in his eyes Ken was unsure of his surroundings.

Ken, after some thought, came to a conclusion: he IS dead, and this (white expanse) is the closest thing he would ever experience to heaven. Finding no reason not to think out loud after deciding upon is death Ken mulishly said,

"Ah, it seems as though someone really doesn't want me to learn how I am, who my parents are. I finally commit to it's discovery and I am killed."

He felt like crying, but couldn't. Nothing at all comforted him about his current situation. That's what he needed, comfort, some assurance. Nothing particularly positive, no, that wasn't expected. It was just part of Ken's nature to desire to seek comfort in the form of understanding his surroundings. This white expanse, to Ken, it meant nothing. And that most definitely irked him.

Suddenly the white wasn't white, it started showing images. The entire space around him was flashing images like a giant movie screen that Ken was inside. None of it really made sense, the images were of nothing, but at the same time everything. Ken was transfixed staring mindlessly into the abyss of images, forgetting to blink or breath. Just for a moment Ken closed his eyes, and then he was gone.

Ken was back on the ground of the streets of Hearthome City when he opened his eyes. Just by observing the world around him he knew he was alive, but couldn't remember why he wouldn't be.

Come to think of it Ken couldn't remember anything. He analyzed all his surroundings nothing came to him. His mind, once bulging with analysis, and thought was now empty. Completely whipped clean…. That is, except for a few things:

Seven days ---- Life, and memory on the line ---- You need a partner ----- Fight the noise ---- Good luck

Ken may not have know anything at that time, but he did know that those words were important. So he ran his fingers through his hair like he had countless times before, if only he could remember, and set off.

"..."

"Come on! You can't say you're not excited about another week of work?"

"... No."

"Cheer up Volkner, at least you're not cooped up in that silly gym of yours."

"Whatever."

Flint laughed, slapping his companion hard on the back. Volkner looked back, his eyebrows raised and a hard look in his eyes. Flint only laughed again, grinning back stupidly, playing with his gravity defying puff of an afro.

"You continue to surprise me, Volkner," Flint leaned back against the wall of a building. A quite tall four storey building, with Volkner and Flint standing on the gutter of the third story. They stood on the inside of two buildings below them a single storey building and next to that, another four storey. Both in the shadows, the only way one could see them was if to look directly up as people passed by. Even then, those who weren't dead couldn't see them anyway.

"Mmm," Flint sniffed. "Fresh bait."

"It's not as fun on the first day. They're always too easy," Volkner sighed, fiddling with the top points of the black wings that grew from his back. Flint's own were spread out across the wall, stretched as far as he could go. "No challenge whatsoever."

"I spose... But they're easy and there's really nothing to lose. More points the better," Flint shrugged. Volkner shot a hard look at him again.

"... You're insane. Challenge is better than points."

"Whatever. You're just too chicken," Flint grinned sheepishly. Volkner almost growled.

"Not even, I just hate fresh players."

"Whatever floats your boat, man. Wish the mission would hurry up already."

"That hard headed moron always takes his time. Give it a few, it'll be here."

"Whatever man," Flint yawned.

(OOC: This takes forever on my DSi D: )

Use the pins, the note had said.

Pins? Mercury thought, bewildered, ducking again as the Starly dove. It barreled over her head, its claws grasping at her hair and scraping her scalp before its momentum carried it away. She yelped and fled again-- the pain wasn't what you'd expect from being scratched; it was rather more like having hot chemicals spilled on you. It felt as if it was cutting more than just her skin.

Pins. What, like the things you used to hold fabric up while you were sewing? She'd never tried sewing in her life, but she had a feeling that wasn't what the note was talking about. As she ran, she felt metal clink on metal in her front pocket. Reaching inside, she extracted a handful of round metal objects, with clasps on the back. Ah. Pins. Of course. She couldn't look at them now, but it felt like there were five or so. As to how she'd use them she hadn't a clue-- would she stab the Starly with them, or what? She hadn't time to think. She hadn't time to do anything.

She looked away from her pursuer and at her goal, the Palkia statue in the square. For the first time, she noticed that there was someone already standing there-- a girl around her age. She appeared to be screaming something; Mercury listened over her pounding feet and heart and realized she was calling out to someone to form a pact with her. A pact! So she was part of this madness too! Only after hearing the girl did Mercury notice what seemed to be like a red haze forming around the statue-- more of the unreal Pokemon. Noise, she realized, although she hadn't a clue where the name had come from.

"Hey! Uh, girl! Make a pact with me!" she yelled, scrambling up the steps to reach the statue's base. More of the Noise began appearing out of the red haze, their sinister two-dimensional appendages reaching towards the two girls. Mercury gulped. "Now!"

((That's Zora.))

(Aye, forgive me. School, DS (mainly Riviera/Pokemon Emerald/Pokemon Platinum), Wii (I can use the internet on it, but I'd rather not spend an eternity writing one RP post; it already takes up too much time to respond to one VM, no matter how short I keep the message; the DSi is probably a lot easier to post RP posts on than on the Wii XD) keeping me from being on here. So, here I am.)

Someone apparently answered Zora's uncalled for plea, and with that said, Zora immediately came to a decision. She wouldn't. Why form a pact? She'd rather be dead, with her mother. She wanted the Noise to come get her; what she had shouted before was completely false. And even though she wanted to live earlier, it didn't feel that way now, considering what was most important to her was gone from the real world. Somehow, though, it seemed like something else spoke for her. Whether it was her conscience or something else was undecided.

"OK, then! Let's form a pact!" Zora found herself saying. A bright light engulfed her, and right beside her her would-be partner shone as well. Though Zora couldn't tell what kind of light her partner was in, she could clearly see her light was a light blue (Fia's Note: Think the light Yoshiya was engulfed in in TWEWY.). And yet, it seemed much more mysterious than that. A few seconds more, and the light faded. Zora found herself next to her new partner, which stunned her greatly. First off, what the hell was that light show? And second, who the hell spoke up for me? It's not like I wanted a partner... Zora still wanted to be dead. But, if she died, her partner would possibly die with her, she assumed. After all, if she HAD to have a partner to play whatever "Game" this was, then her partner would most likely go down with her. And if the girl she formed a pact with wanted to live, then Zora had to give up her wishes on dying and abide by that girl's wish. She could always find another way to die in the real world later on.

Then, like it were to happen in a coincidental order, Zora's pins began shining. She could feel the power within them, and at once she knew... She could use them... Turning around to face the demented Haunter, Zora cried out in fury.

"OK! Let's do this!" she cried out, holding up the Misdreavus pin to her opponent. She hoped it would work, or else, she'd perish...

(Yeah, well... Since Idk how the pins will work or anything (plus, I'd like to wait for Zephyr to post ^^'), I'm gonna hold off on the battle 'til next post. Hope you're fine with that, Minku D=)

"Of course I can see you! Are you implying that this whole incident was my fault!?" Yukari huffed back, thinking this barely fashionable girl was accusing her of being the one to run into the other, her attention once again being removed from the dangerous Pokemon noise in the background. She pulled her hat onto her head properly once more as she stood up, dusting off her dress for the second time in the past five minutes. It was at this point that the other girl mentioned forming a pact, and something just clicked in Yukari's head. That was right, she needed to find a partner or else she wouldn't be able to beat those noise things. But... this girl?

Yukari looked the other youth over with judgmental eyes. While the girl was clearly older than her by several years - albeit she'd be younger if Yukari was anything of her former self - the girl was also extremely thin and frail looking. Normally she wouldn't judge for this kind of thing, but Yukari herself was thin and frail looking. Unfortunately, while she would have preferred taking the time to find someone who looked more capable, she noted that those noise were growing pretty close pretty fast. "Gah! Fine, I'll be your partner! So, how do we do this pact thing!?"

OOC: Short, but I kind of want you to take lead since I don't want to mess anything up. XD

"Gah! Fine, I'll be your partner! So, how do we do this pact thing!?"

As soon as the words had exited the girl's mouth, a blue light swallowed the two, oval bubbles flying around them. It only lasted a few seconds, then the light was gone. Renkuu felt like a burdened had been lifted, or shared. Like there was no need to be as scared as she was. She had a partner now, and it felt like there was nothing stopping them. The voice in her head told her that her choice, although it was good she'd finally found a partner, she'd probably picked the wrong one. Why? Renkuu said back to the voice. The voice sniggered and mentioned something about the girl being small, but Renkuu ignored it as the Noise got dangerously close.

"How do we fight them?" Renkuu cried, to both the girl and the voice. Use the pins. Erase the Noise. I'm sure you know what to do. Renkuu went to turn to the girl and tell her what the voice had said, just in case the girl had no idea, but a light flashed and everyone was gone. The people in the street that refused to look at her and the girl. Everyone except the Noise. They were all there, about two Houndooms and three or four Houndours. Renkuu went to scream but the voice nudged her.

"The pins?" She quickly thrust her hand into her pocket, as if a habit, and pulled out five pins. One had a PokéBall icon on it, three she quickly recognised as a Leafeon, a Mawile and a Rapidash, but she had no idea how, and one had a Gracidea Flower on it. Renkuu had only briefly been to Floraroma Town, and heard about it in stories from the old woman that ventured the town, telling anyone that would listen. Not knowing exactly what to do, she quickly pinned it on to her shirt, just as a Houndoom pounced at her.

"Ayaahh!" She screamed, but the Houndoom winced as a bright light enveloped her. She felt tingly, like she had pins and needles all over. Renkuu looked at herself when she light faded, to see she was completely different. Her skin was ghost white, her hair green and a Gracidea flower had replaced the pin that she had put on and moved up next to her ear. Her clothes were green and white, not much different from what they originally were, and her necklace was replaced again with a Gracidea flower.

Renkuu thrust a hand foward, releasing some kind of green energy, knocking back a Houndour, turning it into white noise before disappearing altogether. Another Noise disappeared too, without Renkuu doing anything to it. She merely blinked, and shot several other energy balls, aiming at the Houndoom this time. It began to pant and weaken, snapping slowly at her legs. Renkuu smiled, and shot another energy ball, only to see her hand glow lightly.

There's only a limited number? Ugh, Renkuu moaned in her head. Another light caught her attention, her Gracidea necklace was glowing lightly for a few seconds, then reverted to normal. As if she knew what she was doing, Renkuu shot more energy balls now at the Houndoom. So it can recharge! She smiled, her aim becoming more precise as the Noise slowed.

"This week will be a cinch!" She giggled to herself as more Noise exploded into white noise.

(OOC: Just me explaining how the pins recharge and such. Sorry I seemed to repeat 'then' a lot XD Lolol I'm at school being naughty. c:)

(I changed the death just like you had asked. Sorry about that!)

Hiro paced down the sidewalk which laid right next to an abandoned street. He was running from the cops, yet again, for a stupid mistake he had made which he could not remember. He noticed an alley way and jumped right into it. He pressed his back up against the cold wall and sighed in relief. He felt a bit safer now that he was at least out of the cop's sight. However, he was unhappy that he had even gotten trouble in the first place.

Hiro heard the police vehicle zoom right by him and smiled. He had managed to escape and he finally felt relieved. Hiro waited until the car's running noise died down and began to walk back down the street. The night was cold and the sky was filled with storm clouds. Hiro felt a little uneasy walking alone on a street which was considered dangerous, but he tried to keep the fear in the back of his head.

The street wasn't considered ghetto or anything since hardly anyone lived on it. However, many drunken idiots or high teenager usually roamed the street at night. Hiro as a little surprised to see no one out on the streets. Then again, it was a cold night so people were probably inside run down apartments or abandoned homes. The small part of town was quiet as ever and so the slightest noise made Hiro jump.

As he walked down the broken sidewalk, a police officer was carefully following him. This police officer was pretty sick of dealing with the young adult and wanted to put an end to all the useless yet potentially harmful crimes. The officer nervously pulled out his perfectly colored gun and aimed it straight at Hiro. The officer, however, accidentally dropped the gun which caused Hiro to turn around quickly.

As soon as he saw the officer and the fallen gun, he began to run. He felt exhausted from all the running which felt like it was going on for hours, but he had to run because either that officer was just trying to threaten him or he had gone crazy and was going to attempt at shooting him.

The officer chased him as soon as Hiro dashed off. He was determined to shot the teen down, he had to do something about him. Hiro ended up tripping over a crack, oddly enough, and felt straight to his knees. He panted heavily and felt a sharp pain in his ankle. Hiro looked behind him and saw the officer come closer. He attempted to stand up but just ended up falling back on his two feet in worse pain.

The officer was inches away and he wasn't going to attempt to get closer. He aimed the gun at the teen and Hiro knew that this was going to be the last few seconds of his life. He trembled as came to this realization. He wasn't ready to die yet, not yet... He still had so many things in life to do. He needed to travel and see what was out there in the world; but now he will never have that chance.

The bullets were shot and Hiro felt that sudden sharp pain that everyone suffers after being hit with a bullet. Everything went black and there was noting else.

***

Hiro awokened in the streets of some unfamulair place. He stood up, but when he did he felt something under his foot.He lifted up his foot and found a pin in between a crack on the sidewalk. He stared at it for a moment, wondering what it was. He picked it up and examined it.

"Why is a pin with an Arcanine here?" He mumbled.

Hiro sighed and just stuffed it in his pocket. He began to roam around, still trying to figure out where he possibly was. He noticed a girl standing alone in the middle of the road. Hiro stared over at her with a blank expression.

"Might as well figure out where I am..." He sighed.

Hiro walked over to the teenaged girl and stared at her for a moment. He felt speechless, but he didn't know why. It wasn't difficult asking where he was, so why was he starting to choke up?

"Excuse me." Hiro started. "Do you know where I am? I have no idea what's going on."

He probably should of mentioned the fact that he was shot and that he couldn't remember anything afterwards, but he didn't really want to scare her off.

(Hiro's talking to Dara.)

With the blue light came an overwhelming feeling of content. It was like, to Yukari, that sure, she was still in danger, but things could always be worse and she at least had a partner and a means of defending herself now. This newfound lack of fear ignited a rather burning ambition in her to kick some noise butt. It wasn't exactly anger, but perhaps excitement? She kind of wanted to share this feeling with the other girl, but as the light cleared she found herself way too distracted with the enemy noise in front of her. Houndooms and Houndours, just like what had been there before, but nobody else seemed to be around at all. It was like they all just up and disappeared! Her mind was taken from her thoughts yet again as a voice told her to use the pins. She rooted around in the pocket of her dress, before eventually whipping out five in total. She wasn't sure how they had gotten there, but that was the way things were. All four resembled Pokemon. The first four were familiar, as they looked like a Pokeball, Gardevoir, Mismagius, and Glaceon, Pokemon she had liked in the past despite being a guy, while the other one resembled a Pokemon she had seen but only in storybooks. Mesprit, the being of emotion. Yet, she felt the urge to pin that one to her dress for the time being.

She did so, and was quickly enveloped by a pale blue light that made her cry out in uncertainty, startled by the development. As she remained in the light, she tingled, but at the same time it was very warm. When the light faded, she was left standing how she was originally, but with some disturbing differences. For one, pink hair had fallen into her face as opposed to the blond she had before, and when she brought her hand up to touch it, she noticed her skin had become pale blue. There was a slight irritation on her forehead, and upon rubbing the spot she found a bright red gem was embedded there. She wouldn't have noticed, but her eyes had changed to a yellow colour as well. Behind her, twin tails whipped back and forth anxiously, pale blue and erupting from under the skirt of her now blue dress. Has she become something akin to a Mesprit? She didn't know, but what she did know was that these stupid noise were going down!

Instantly after her discoveries, she because knowledgeable in what to do next thanks to that increasingly ridiculous voice in her head. She raised her hand, and the gem on her forehead began to glow brightly as one of the attacking Houndooms froze in its tracks. She raised her hand, and the Houndoom rose into the air, before throwing her hand down and having the Houndoom crash into the ground in a cloud of dust and dirt. "Aha! This is way too much fun!" The girl exclaimed maniacally as she began to squeeze her hand, crushing the noise until it faded away. The light in her gem faded swiftly after, and she found herself unable to use the technique again, foolishly allowing herself to be bitten on her left arm by one of the Houndour. As a few moments passed, the gem relit itself, and she found herself able to throw the Houndour off with anything throw of her right hand. Apparently she became incapable of using it after a short while in which it needed to recharge…

Still examining her pins, Dara began to mumble something about missing those Pokemon and wondering what ever happened to them. From what she could remember, Eevee had been at her side at the time of death. Was her Eevee ok? It worried her to think something bad had happened to her. Absentmindedly, she perched herself up on a stone monument. Open closer inspection, she noticed, was that it took a likelihood to Dialga. Muttering again, she tried to figure out where she was.

"This is Eterna... that is for sure."

Gently, she put the pins into the pocket of her skirt. The clouds were a deep shade of grey, she noticed. Dara prayed there would be no rain. There be no where for her to take shelter or hide if it did. Groaning, she laid down. Staring back down at her were the sapphire orbs of Dialga's eyes. Its prescence wasn't omniscient, but she felt slightly nervous for an odd reason. Shivering, she picked herself up and began to walk around once again.

Before she had gotten very far, she saw a teenage boy about her age approach her. Nervously, she began to fidget with her skirt in hopes of distracting herself. He didn't seem like a threat, but you can never know. She was, afterall, in a complete foreign land, apparently dead, with no aid whatsoever. He got into speaking distance from her. At first she attempted to back away, but soon her began to speak. Dara could not hear all the way. but she heard he was asking their location.

"Now I have to say something.." She thought.

"Oh um, hi. I'm not sure where we are. My name is Dara, though. Nice to meet you."

Dara was even more nervous to speak to the boy, now that she remembered her voice, for some reason or another, had been replaced with a raspy one. She was still audible, but it sounded jumbled to her. Flushing slightly, she looked down at her feet in hopes of adverting his attention. Again, she began to fidget with her skirt.

The fact that Mercury had been suddenly engulfed in a column of lavendar light when the girl had accepted the pact somehow didn't suprise her; she was alive when by all rights she should be blown to smithereens, and she had just been chased down by a creature who defied natural parameters, even for a Pokemon, so she assumed most of the other laws of physics were suspended as well. When the light dissipated, she felt... something... tying her to the strange quiet girl she had just formed a pact with. And more than that, she suddenly didn't feel helpless anymore.

She turned so her back was to the mysterious girl, and she was facing the Starly Noise. She felt, in her pocket, the pins that had so perplexed her before, and suddenly realized what they were for-- they were ways to focus her mental energy and fight the Noise. She felt power surging up inside her.

"Ok! Let's do this!" Cried the girl, and Mercury nodded without saying anything. Reaching into her pocket, she pulled the pins out, and she suddenly realized what each of them signified. Three of them pulsed of familiarity, and she realized when she touched them that they were Pokemon she had known-- Electabuzz, Shellos, and Chatot. One of them, which bore a symbol of a Pokeball, held no power against the noise that she could feel. But the last one pulsed with such an extraordinary wave of energy that her vision blurred for a second. That pin she clipped onto her coat.

There was a sudden shift, and the landscape around them-- dissolved. Mercury looked around her but couldn't see any signs of people, not even her partner. There were just the Noise, which were advancing on her. But she wasn't scared anymore. She raised a hand and noticed that her fingers were webbed and her skin was purple. Even that couldn't suprise her; she knew what she was doing. Turning to face the Starly, she reached out with her clawed fingernails and slashed across its chest. A gash hovered in the air where she had struck, as if the attack had cleaved space itself. The Starly shrieked unintelligibly and burst into black and white particles. Mercury grinned in satisfaction, but the grin immediately faded when she felt something strike her leg. The same burning sensation shot up to her hip and she spun around to face the Haunter, which was readying another Shadow Ball.

She prepared to strike it again, but she felt no power gathering around her hand. She turned and saw that the pin on her chest, which had been glowing before, was dull. Wait, something told her, and she leapt to the side to evade the Haunter's attack just as the Pin illuminated again, indicating its power had returned. She grinned and dashed towards the Haunter, slashing it again. The Noise reeled, but didn't dissipate after one hit like the Starly had-- it was somewhat tougher. Mercury pedaled backwards to dodge its next advance, and wondered where her partner had gone to.

(OOC: apologies and all that. Yes, Spacial Rend is pretty uber, but it's one shot per charge so it shouldn't be too gamebreaking.)

Renkuu spun around a few times, glancing around as another Houndour burst into white noise. See? Your partner is helping you. Isn't that sensational? The voice said to her. Renkuu frowned as she continued to dodge and shoot attacks. The voice was sounding less and less like her own and more and more like... well, like just a voice talking to her. This whole game thing was confusing, but her life was on the line so she had to make sure she did what she could.

As the last Houndoom exploded, the scenery around her seem to waver as if heat waves blew around her, then everything came back. Her partner, the people but this time, the Noise were gone. And so was her foreign body, she was back to normal too. She was back, panting heavily from exhaustion on the cement ground of Eterna City, next to her now partner, as if nothing had ever happened.

"... Wow," was all she could splutter. Who could blame her? Thrown into some kind of spiritual world then being attacked by strange Pokémon. "... Wow."

She lifted herself off the ground, dusted herself off and hesitantly put a hand out for the girl to get up. "Hi," she said plainly.

She disappeared. The girl seemed to vanish in thin air. Zora couldn't understand where she had gone to. She couldn't be ditching me now, could she? She noticed the Haunter was taking a few hints, and Zora decided that her partner was either invisible in Zora's eyes (as she was probably invisible in her partner's eyes), or that her partner was in some alternate dimension at the moment. Nonetheless, her Pokemon were now by her side, and as she turned to her Umbreon, Ebony, she noticed there was something rather peculiar. For Ebony had on a silver chain, and it wrapped around a Griseous Orb. Although the orb seemed rather heavy for Ebony, and that it would weigh her down in doing so.

Seeing how the item was probably vital for her own survival anyways, Zora walked on over to Ebony to take the Griseous Orb from her neck. But at that moment, the Haunter sped towards her at full speed. The next few seconds were a blur. The Haunter launched what seemed to be a Shadow Claw attacked just as Zora grabbed the Orb. And then all went dark around her. When whatever darkness was blocking her before disappeared, Zora found herself looking much different than before. The Haunter itself was also unharmed.

Her hair was now a bit longer than before, ending around her hips. The top of it was curved into a crescent moon shape, the ditch facing the sky. She had a skirt with a white spike pattern on each side, and as she turned to face the Haunter, realized she had three sections of wings. This new look reminded her of the pictures she had seen of Giratina's snake-like Origin Forme, and that's when it dawned on her. I can't be... This isn't possible... Her thoughts were interrupted as the Haunter began readying a Shadow Sneak. But this time, Zora was prepared.

"Ebony! Faint Attack!" But just as the Umbreon began to disappear and reappear to hit the Haunter, the two Starly flew in front of the ghost and took the attack for it. Although it didn't work as plan, Zora had to admit that she was glad Faint Attack wasn't a Ghost-type move, else no damage would've been dealt. So, I should take out the Starly first, and then go on to finish the Haunter with Giratina's special move... But as she turned to Ebony, she noticed that there was no sign of the Umbreon. She then picked up Ebony's designated pin, which was conveniently lying on the ground. It seemed to be...depleted of energy, something Zora didn't expect. But it also seemed to be recharging. No matter. I have other ways of taking down some pesky Starly...

"Saria!" she commanded, "Blizzard!" The Milotic appeared so suddenly from her own pin, and began unleashing a chaotic ice shower at the two Starly. Unable to act quickly enough, the Starly were caught in Saria's powerful Blizzard, and soon disappeared. The Haunter remained, but Zora figured she could take it out. The Haunter began charging another Shadow Claw again, and it was the right moment for Zora to use her special ability. She closed her eyes, thinking of nothing but darkness. And, at once, she vanished in thin air just as the Haunter unleashed its attack.

A minute passed with the Haunter looking around, wondering where its opponent went. Perfect. From the shadows behind it came Zora, and with a mysterious black aura surrounding her body, she rammed into the Haunter with an amazing Body Slam-like attack. The dark aura faded from around her, and seconds later she found herself back to normal. The Griseous Orb was no longer visible, and when she opened up her left palm, she realized a pin had been placed in it all this time. This must've been the cause of my transformation, and the Griseous Orb helped me further by changing my forme... she thought to herself, staring at what seemed to be a charging pin. The Haunter was, at that time, gone, and Zora knew she had won. After all, Ghosts, much like Dragons, were weak against their own type. And Shadow Force was just perfect for a Pokemon like Haunter.

Just so suddenly as she beat the creature, people appeared around her again, as did her partner. Zora noticed a couple of the other supposed Players missing, and figured it was for the same reason why everything around her vanished. Your partner helped you fight the Noise in another dimension. You didn't win alone. If you had, well, you would probably have been considered a cheater. No one can fight the Noise alone. That's why a partner is a much... The voice inside Zora's head seemed more and more familiar each time it spoke. It was somewhat nostalgic, but Zora couldn't remember where it came from. Turning so that she was facing her partner, Zora began staring at the four pins she now held. They were all fully recharged, apparently, even though they didn't seem to be done recharging quite yet when the battle had ended. Then again, they had plenty of time to recharge after the battle, so it didn't seem like too much of a problem...

(Aye, hope this is all good. I don't recall anyone making much use of their Pokemon Pins yet (besides their legendary ones), so hopefully I pulled it off accurately. I also wasn't sure if TM/HM moves were allowed, even though I ended up having Saria use one...)

When all was said and done, Yukari was in a much worse state of fatigue than her apparent partner. Everything came into sight again, but at the same time her power faded away and she found herself overwhelmed with exhaustion from the ordeal. She had been treating that body like she had her male one in terms of strength and tolerance, but as she fell to her stomach and began to almost gasp for air, her brain pulsing painfully from whatever strange powers she had been using, she realized she needed to tone it down if she ever needed to do that again. Her body was small, and physically weak by nature, not to mention she couldn't get her mind off things like how her clothes were probably now dirty and how she felt filthy and sweaty. What kind of curse was it that put her in such a form? So much like her sister... She kind of wanted to cry, but in the end settled for throwing a painful little mini-tantrum by pounding her hands into the ground, before eventually calming down and closing her eyes for a minute to calm herself down.

When she opened her eyes again, she found herself looking at the hand of this partner girl, as if she wanted to help her up, along with giving a very ordinary sounding greeting. Yukari at first considered ignoring the gesture and standing on her own, but when she remembered that her body was exhausted she extended her hand to connect and have herself pulled up. Besides, there was something tugging at her that suggested she needed the assurance of having someone older around. At the very least, this girl would be useful for helping her adjust to things. "Don't expect a thank you, I could have done that myself." The young girl stuck her nose in the air, her apparent greeting. Unfortunately, her legs gave way out of fatigue and she fell back down again, this time getting up quickly and on her own, her face bright red from embarrassment and her body shaking from being tired. "Now what?" She continued, trying to avoid having to say her name since she still felt uncomfortable referring to herself that way. "We should go sit down somewhere, I'm apparently tired."

Renkuu blinked at the girl's response, a little shocked at her new partner's reply. Renkuu herself wasn't really expecting a thank-you, but her second statement? The voice said that she needed a partner. Without one, the game couldn't be done, couldn't be played, and the player would, well, be erased. Why was this girl being so difficult?

"I don't know," Renkuu shrugged, pushing a few strands of hair out of her face. "It's all so confusing. I don't even want to know, really." She sighed.

No one said the game would be easy, the voice said in a matter-of-factly tone. No one said that everything would go in an orderly fashion. Everything will get out of hand, in exactly 5 seconds. Renkuu mentally poked at the voice in her head as it disappeared, begging for it to come back. What did it mean, out of hand?

"I'm Renkuu by the way, or Ren. What's you-" A loud beeping noise interrupted her rudely. Renkuu almost yelped as the beeping noice vibrated against her hip. Her phone? Who could be texting her? She pulled it out, reading the message twice, three times. The fifth time, she read it aloud for her partner to hear.

"... Reach the rock in Eterna Forest. You have 60 minutes. Fail and be crushed. - The Reapers." She read slowly. The rock in Eterna Forest? Where was that?

Don't you remember? The voice crooned. Complete the missions and you'll win the game. Isn't that simple? Renkuu groaned. Attitude from an imaginary voice? Now she'd have to find some stupid rock in a forest? What the hell.

"Well, uh, what's your name again?" Renkuu almost laughed. Be cool, she said to herself. Remember how you got all your other friends?

"Mission's here," Flint punched an arm in the air, amazingly keeping his balance perfect on the gutter. Volkner rolled his eyes and yawned. "You ready?"

"To do what?" Volkner frowned. "To have the bore of a lifetime? Let little Maylene or Candice deal with the weak, new players. Maylene's relatively new, she needs the points."

"I thought you didn't care about points?" Flint teased, punching Volkner hard on the arm. Volkner frowned back at him.

"No, I don't. But she does," he thrust a thumb to the other side of him as Maylene landed on the gutter alongside them, losing her balance slightly as her feet touches the ledge.

"Hi guys- whoa, whoa!" She stumbled again, grabing Volkner to keep balance. He narrowed his eyes at her, flicking her hand off his now slightly crumpled vest. "How can you not fall off? It's so narrow! I'm still learning with these wings and the whole flying and gliding and jumping really high thing."

"Years of practice," Flint winked. "Years, kid."

"Years? Geez," Maylene stumbled again but gained her balance on her own. She grinned triamphantly and copied Volkner's pose. "Well, this is my 4th game so, I'm really trying to get a hold of the whole 'intimidation' thing. Not really working since I'm so young and little and a girl. But that doesn't stop me from erasing them clean off the UG!"

"Good for you!" Flint gave her a thumbs up. "And guess what? Fresh, new players dead ahead!" He pointed at the number of players sprawled across the city. "Better get them before they partner up."

"You bet! See you later!" Maylene grinned and took off from the ledge and leaped from building to building, then jumping out of site.

"Stupid little spidermonkey," Volkner rolled his eyes. "You can go have some fun, I'll pass."

"Naww, Volk, I won't do nothing without my best pal!" Flint punched him on the arm again.

"Screw you man," Volkner yawned, looking up to stare at the sky.
