...Uhm. This RP is seriously cool and I'm a huge fan of TWEWY, is it too late to sign up? :x
Name: Mercury Beryl
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Appearance: This old thing-- I've gotten better at drawing humans since then, I swear. I'll update with a Palkia version in a little while.
Mercury is somewhat tall, at 5' 10". She's not often praised for her looks, but since she prefers to work all day and maintain human contact only when necessary, appearances don't matter much to her. She wears a lab coat, since that was what she died in, and jeans. Her shoes are rather special to her-- the silk wings sewn onto them are handmade by her mother, and they're her only link to her family now. (The picture has her carrying sets of test tubes-- you can ignore those, they serve as her psychs but since this is a Pokemon RP it's different.)
In her Palkia form, her skin turns more pinkish-purple as opposed to yellow. Purple lines run all along her body, from the sides of her neck to her arms, down to her feet and tail. Glowing jewels appear on the tops of her arms, and spectral wings unfold from her shoulders (she can't fly with them, they're just for decoration really). She also has a ridge that runs down the top of her head, but it's generally hidden by her hair. Her fingernails turn into claws, and she has a short stubby tail.
Personality: Her personality changed majorly as her entry fee, but: in-game, she's sarcastic and somewhat lazy. She avoids work and battles as much as possible, and will complain if forced into doing anything. What she does, she does fairly well, but she'll always go for the easy way out: the cheap kill, or escaping if an enemy seems particularily tough. She doesn't get along too well with other people, because as she says, "They're always trying to make me do stuff." She bonds more for convenience than for friendship-- this part of her personality was the same before she died.
Pre-death, she was a stoic, no-nonsense type. She would often work late into the night, and always had her eyes set forward. She was bossy and commanding, and would often take over managing the lab while her parents were traveling.
She has a soft side, although it's not easy to locate: she loved her parents dearly and always wears the wing-shoes to be reminded of them; she also will not tolerate cruelty to Pokemon.
History: Mercury was born in Hoenn, in Rustboro city. Her father was a head executive of Devon corp., producer of technological innovations of all kinds, and her mother was a chemist for the same company. She grew up in Rustboro until she was six, when her dad got promoted to Division manager in Sinnoh, and they moved to Jubilife city. She doesn't remember much of Hoenn-- her earliest memory is of walking down the beach with her mother and seeing the Wingulls wheeling over their heads.
Her parents homeschooled her since she was four. The family had its own private lab as well as the large corporate one where most of the employees were. Her parents oversaw projects that developed and produced new innovations for all aspects of life, but in particular medical ones-- her mom was hailed as the inventor of the regenerative compound that was the main ingredient in commercial Potions. She would often stay up late reading textbooks and learning advanced chemistry-- how do some Pokemon breathe fire? What goes on in the body during evolution, exactly? She was taught to approach the world on the basis that nothing is mystical and that everything can be explained.
When she was ten, she directed and successfully carried off her first experiment while her parents were away on a business trip. Since then, she had helped out in the corporate lab during the week, and tried out what she learned in private at their own home lab. She had her sights set on college, and after that she would help unwravel the many mysteries surrounding the world. She would have, if she had survived.
On the fateful day she died, they were laboring under a deadline-- they needed to test and confirm to be safe a new kind of fusion reactor, one that could provide energy for an entire city if used correctly. The Sinnoh government was offering them unimaginable sums of money for it. Every single employee was up late, working overtime to try and get it to work. Mercury, so wrapped up in what they were about to achieve, let her concentration slip and grabbed a tray of chemicals to insert into the generator, not realizing that she hadn't gotten the purified batch. Five minutes later, all the machinery was overheating and none could figure out why. When she realized what she had done and ran to warn someone, the reactor exploded. The blast leveled the building, killing everyone inside.
Entry Fee: Her ambitiousness. While Mercury was alive, she had everything to look forward to: she was going to succeed her father as director of the Sinnoh branch of Devon corp., attend college and become a world-renowned biochemist. She was dedicated to working towards any goal, and with her determination challenges and obstacles melted away before her. Not so in the Game-- she's been stripped of all ambition and determination, leaving her lazy, sarcastic, and perpetually bored. Not a very good survival tactic.
Spirit: Palkia
Partner Pins:
Electabuzz: he was the source of power for the lab where her parents worked, who also died in the explosion. Mercury worked closely with him in many ways, and while their friendship was more of a boss-employee relationship than a pokemon-trainer, she appreciated him.
Shellos (east Sea): Shellos is an anomaly. He (or she, or it; she doesn't really know) was a specimen for an experiment that her lab was working on collaboratively with Galactic Energy, inc. She was inexperienced with using live subjects for experiments, and this particular one involved forcing Pokemon to evolve by injecting them with a serum. However, when the live Shellos was subdued and placed in front of her, Mercury couldn't bear to do it-- the creature was obviously in pain, and there was no telling whether the experiment would go wrong. So she stopped, and waited until nobody else was around before taking Shellos, smuggling it out, and releasing it. It was revealed later that Galactic's dealings were illicit, and Devon severed all ties with them.
Chatot: She attended Trainer school for half a year when she was thirteen in order to get credits for college, and passed with flying colors. Throughout that time, Chatot had been her assigned Pokemon.
RP Sample: I haven't been in any roleplays for a really long time, and none here I'm afraid. ._. Can I go without one? Everyone's got to start somewhere...
