(Well, I had to return my friend's copy, so...I decided to join, to make up for it.)
Name: Taketa Ishikawa (called Taki for short)
Age: 15
Gender: Male
Appearance: Skinny, with very messy medium-length red hair. His face is thin and restrained, and he has small features. Contrastly, his green eyes seem too large for his face, whereas his nose is tiny and snoutlike. He has a rather large mouth, and can be very loud when he needs to be.
His skin is of a light, pale-ish tone. He is skinny and not very athletic; he isn't very strong, and struggles with simple physical tasks. He wears common white t-shirts and blue jean-shorts. He wears large sneakers, and rarely combs his hair.
Personality: He is very timid, and avoids social contact with others. He is actually very kind and caring, and can very easily feel the pain of others. This is due to his special ability, Empathy. However, though at first he tried to use this to help people, the problems this caused resulted in his becoming a recluse and a loner. He tries to shut others out. However, there is more to this than apparent...
The incident in his past is the biggest reason for his antisocial behavior. That isn't to say he's happy alone, but he can't bear the overbearing emotions of others.
History: From day one, Taki's life wasn't what one would call normal. At his birth, his mother, perfectly healthy, died of unknown causes. A few days later, his father vanished, never to be seen again.
Soon afterwards, he ended up in an orphanage. As he grew older, he found that it was fairly easy to make friends with the other children, though he was treated like a freak by the adults who ran the orphanage.
In truth, he possessed a very unique power known as Empathy. With this ability, he was able to passively "read" the emotions of others. This allowed him to respond to whatever his friends were feeling, and he became quite popular and well-liked.
At least, until he made the mistake of revealing his ability. Taki didn't know; he thought the power was common to everyone. Once he proved this power, he felt the friendship turn to confusion, fear, paranoia...and hate. Soon the overwhelming negative feelings led him to run away.
Then things got worse. He fell in with a crowd of thugs, who treated him as little more than a servant. His only comfort among the gang were his two closest friends, Rikimaru and Tatsumaru, both Pokemon who were also Empaths. He managed to survive, but finally, his life took its final turn.
A woman had tried, and failed, to have the lot of them arrested for attempting to extort from her husband. She was ready to try again, and had incriminating evidence that could put all of them away for a very long time. That couldn't be accepted.
One night, while the woman's husband was at work, the gang broke into the house. Taki was dragged to the woman's bed, and handed a gun. He was then told what he was to do.
They threatened to kill him if he disobeyed. He was overcome; his own fear mingled with the woman's, and his mind suffered immeasurable psychological strain. His psyche began to wear away, and...
He ran. He knew what would happen, but he didn't care. The unbearable pressure of the woman's final emotions, the fear, anger, and hate, threatened to crush him. His only respite was that, in order to endure the gang members' feelings of hostility, he'd learned to control his power, and for a few brief days after his flight, his mind was clear of the torment.
Four days after his flight, a member of the gang cornered him in an alley, armed with a gun. Taki knew it was coming...and he welcomed it.
Entry Fee: The only thing that allowed Taki any vestige of peace was his ability to restrain Empathy, to tune out the emotions of others. This was his entry fee. Without it, he is constantly and unwillingly exposed to the feelings and emotions of others around him, and even when he is alone, the ever-pursuant emotions of the woman haunt him.
