I tend to grind between 5 and 10 levels between each gym (depending on type advantages), then usually 6 between the last gym and the first elite four member.
As long as you have about 30 Hyper Potions and a few revives, you can win with a team in the 40s. Really, some of you people are sounding a little ridiculous, no offense. And if for some reason you really can't win, then you just keep battling them to get your levels up and before you know you'll win. You aren't supposed to be able to sweep the E4.
i usually have solid lvl 50s except for 2 and thats the starter i choose asnd the legendeary and they are usually about lvl 69-ish.
iv never been completely outpowered by the elite-four though.
the toughest e4 where the b/r/y ones.
I remember when I was facing up to the elite four first time. My strongest then, was one in lv. 76 I think. I also had with me another in 70, and two in 60. The two weakest didnt I need to use. I just bought 50 revives and 99 hyper potion. I didnt need to use items that much.. :p
Cynthia's Togekiss makes me want to snap my DS in half then kill myself with a swift stab to the chest with a knife, bash my head into a bed of spikes, and pull a gun to my head. It's Aura Spheres nearly OHKO every pokemon on my team. And if it doesn't Garchomp does.
