Hi! I'm the tier leader on Smogon and am here to showcase a few sets I feel are grossly underrated in the Übers metagame (/unzips fedora). I hope the PC playerbase will grow far more creative than whiny smogonites that complain about our "stale" metagame!
Aerodactyl @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
This thing makes certain hazard stacking offenses work, so long you don't get matched up against a Mega Sableye. Primal Groudon doesn't work as a SR user on these teams because it is prone to getting Defogged on by Latias and support Arceus, and generally you'd want to use a sweeper Primal Groudon set on these teams anyway. Dialga saps momentum and can also be Defogged on in a pinch, although it has a better overall match-up vs them than Groudon does. Aerodactyl's ridiculously fast Taunt allows it to keep its SR up, in addition to any Spikes / Toxic Spikes that a teammate may have set. It also soft checks Ho-Oh while leading against mons like Darkrai, something multiple suicide leads (Cloyster, Greninja) struggle against. Overall a cool mon.
Alomomola @ Rocky Helmet / Leftovers
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Knock Off
- Toxic
A Ho-Oh and non SD Primal Groudon check that is capable of passing gigantic wishes to teammates such as Ferrothorn and Primal Groudon, since Alomomola itself lures in Pokemon that those teammates can effectively check. Knock Off bops Latios on the switch and prevents it from being complete Mega Gengar food. I wish it could check more, so it's probably better on balance as opposed to full stall, but it's a cool Pokemon nonetheless.
Mewtwo @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Grass Knot
- Fire Blast
- Psystrike
- Ice Beam
Incredibly strong, can 2HKO Mega Sableye with Fire Blast, severely dent stuff with Psystrike, etc. You can run Trick on this set but many Pokemon in Ubers can have their item taken away and Mewtwo likes to keep its Choice Specs anyway. This is a cool mon, and is usually better than Mega Mewtwo Y.
