Yes. I dont want to get off topic, but if you dont own the game, you're supposed to delete it within 24 hours. (I do.. But i re-download it... but i keep the save file... so no harm done)

yeh i normally keep mine..infact this is the first pokemon game i acually own on the handheld the others are through emulator since ruby saphire.

anyway is there a easier way to get shinys should i just stop the chain at 20-30 and buy heaps of max repels and just keep reseting it?

Meh, do what works for you. Most of mine are encountered when i EV train for my friends. (I get $35 per pokemon. Not much, but its a better income than most people as i can get it done with my Macho Brace + Pokerus Pokemon within an hour if i'm feeling happy =)

I have...two Shinies, but they're both back in Leafgreen: a Pigeot female and a Pigeot male, both caught as Pidgey in the same patch of grass because I train there so often. I believe the male is Calm Natured, while the Female is Timid Natured. Maybe those aren;t the best Natures for Pigeot, but I'm still proud of them.

I've caught 4 shinies... all of em look cool (Rapidash, Golem, Pikachu (YES pikachu) and Caterpie lol) and I caught 1 when I didn't even know about shinys... just caught it... (Tentacool). but once I tried the Pokeradar thing... didn't work out I got 12 at my highest and then I blew it...

Most people on pokemon forums that have lots of shinys, they "claim" to have found them by luck, but I think they got them by trade.
I only found 2 shinys on my (now lost) Ruby version: A Swablu, and an Oddish I found at the Safari Zone.
Haven't found any in Diamond, but I don't mind.

I saw a youtube video.
Although the guy could have been a hacker (he had 999 of every item), it shows that he had about 763 or so Max Repels left until he found a shiny thru pokeradar.

Would that mean that you would have to chain for about 60,000 steps [250 steps times 250 or so max repels] before finding a shiny?

Note: 60,000 steps would mean chaining for about 4 1/2 hours. O_o

I never get shinys -_- Only shiny I ever got was a stinking Red gyrados im so unlucky I start to believe that shinys don't even exist in my games..

i have a shiny mewtwo poke egg, it is hard to tell how i got it in pickachu version it must been a virus, it looks like a normal poke egg but ill trade it so if anyone ask i have one, i traded it to my gba sapphire then traded it to poke pearl
