Well, I haven't played this game for quite a few years. Six years at the least, I think. Anyway, I got back into it a month or so ago, and I've been fiddling around with modifying the Meganium Starter Deck with some of the cards I've pulled from packs so far. Let me know what you think, and what needs to be changed. Oh, and a name would be cool, if you have suggestions. Here goes:

    Basics (13)
    Chikorita x3 (HGSS)
Turtwig x2 (1 HS Unleashed, 1 DP Majestic Dawn)
    Sentret x3 (HGSS)
    Tropius x3 (HS Unleashed)
Shaymin x2 (1 Landmin from Platinum, 1 Skymin from HS Unleashed)

    Stage 1 (6)
    Bayleef x2 (HGSS)
Grotle x2 (1 DP Majestic Dawn, 1 HS Unleashed)
    Furret x2 (HGSS)

    Stage 2 (4)
    Meganium Prime x2 (HGSS)
Torterra x2 (1 DP Majestic Dawn, 1 HS Unleashed)
    Trainers/Supporters (14)
    Pokemon Communication x2
    Interviewer's Questions x2
    Professor Oak's New Theory x1
    Bill x2
    Mom's Kindness x1
    Engineer's Adjustments x1
    Switch x2
    Professor Oak's Visit x1
    Good Rod x1
    TV Reporter x1

    Energy (23)
    Grass Energy x22
    Double Colorless Energy x1

Pokemon Breakdown (For ease of quick-glance)
    Chikorita 3/2/2
    Turtwig 2/2/2
    Sentret 3/2
    Shaymin 2
    Tropius 3

    Strategy
Pretty straightforward, I think. Get a Tropius on the field ASAP be it by drawing in the first hand, or by Furret, or Pokemon Communication. From there, start Green Calling all your heavy hitters in. Often, you'll already have bits and pieces of the Chikorita/Turtwig line in your hand by the time you start calling things in. Chikorita becomes Meganium very quickly, and Leaf Trans goes into effect for easy energy movement. Turtwig becomes Torterra for really heavy hitting. If your opponent is playing around with a hard hitter over 80 HP, come in with the Majestic Dawn Torterra and Frenzy Plant it out. Otherwise, Solar Beam picks everything Basic Pokemon off pretty quickly. Also, the HS Unleashed Torterra has some nice survivability with Giga Drain. I've tested it out and moves pretty quickly against my friend's decks. Of course, we've all just been getting back into it again, so none of us are really big strategists.

So, thanks for all your help. Really, all these cards are the best I have for the time being, but I'll definitely be looking out for anything that gets mentioned.

    Oh, and yeah, I know the trainers are a little bit all over the place. Like I said... I'm basically just working with what I have. XD;

Not digging Green Call. If nothing else, it's an attack, which ends your turn, and to make things worse, you gotta flip for it, and you have to be active. If you really want to start getting Grass Pokemon out in a hurry, look at Sunflora HG/SS. Sunshine Grace is a pokepower, so you can still attack and you can use it from the bench. The effect is also guaranteed, so even though it's just for one pokemon, unless you roll heads a lot, you'll end up on par with the game at minimum, and possibly ahead if the game's not on your side. Probably go 2-1 Sunflora (Sunkern being the basic).

Also, imo, Shaymin is way more useful with the Lvl X, preferably the one with Thankfullness since it gives...I think it's 40 extra HP to all grass pokemon (other than Shaymins). It's total BS, and it's really useful.

Oh, wow. Yeah, see... This is why I posted here. I had no idea either of those existed, and how amazing they'd work out. Just looking at the two you suggested gives me some fantastic ideas that would be stupid in the best way possible. I've always had issues with coin flip abilities, seeing as luck doesn't tend to be helpful all that often. So yeah, those make some great suggestions. And a 190 HP Meganium is... Well, it's hilarious.

Hmmm... Any thoughts on which Sunkern I should use? I could see the one that has the flip a coin, if heads, it evolves working out pretty well for me.

Oh, and trainers... No changes there?

Yeah, I was looking at the Rare Candy the other day and thinking that it'd be a nice idea. I wonder... Would I need to take out some of the Stage 1 cards if I was going to be using Rare Candy?

And Roseanne's Research... I've done enough looking around to notice that they seem to be a staple in most decks. Unfortunately, this and the Rare Candy I don't actually have any of, so I'll have to be on the lookout for them. What do you mean by pricey? Are they hard enough to find/useful enough that it makes them expensive to buy individually?

I do, however, have another Pokemon Communication. I could happily run three of them. Maybe in place of... Good Rod?

    - Tyros

Oh, I see... Has Bill really fallen completely out of the staple list? To my mind, from being used to the whole 6 years ago field, that's pretty crazy. XD

But I'll take your word on that, since I'm sure you've been playing the current game a lot longer. So drop the Bills... And the Mom's Kindness, I'm sure, since it's basically the same card. I'll keep that in mind as my collection grows.

Six years ago, Bill was a trainer, not a supporter. That's changed, and there are just so many better supporters and trainers. Including Cynthia's Feelings, Copycat (got reprinted in HGSS), and Professor Oak's New Theory. Plus, there's a Chatot card from Majestic Dawn that does the same thing as Copycat for no energy (but it's only got 50 HP). And you might wanna look into getting a Claydol Great Expectations (or whatever one is the one with the Cosmic Power PokePower).

    That's a good point. n.n;

    *Looks up Cynthia's Feelings*
Wow, that's a lot of card advantage power. O__o I should look into that one, too.

    - Tyros

    Oh, whoop! So you did.
    Hmmm...
Well, let's see here. Those Mimics aren't so bad. I've seen them before, and may have one or two. The Chatots would be nice, too, although I don't really have a lot of access to them.

As for the one I do really have access to... Would running Oak's New Theory in multiples be a good plan?

Oh, and as for the Claydol... Would that be worth using even with having to put multiple Baltoy in? They wouldn't ever actually be able to attack, and I wouldn't be guaranteed to get them unless I had Furret out. Dunno. Would it be worth it anyway?

    - Tyros

Claydol's easily worth it. Being able to get rid of up to two useless cards every turn to draw cards that could be notably more useful has made it the staple of virtually every tournament deck, and it will doubtlessly remain so if DP Great Encounters remains tournament legal come September...though I'm speculating that we might be looking at Platinum on.
