A/N: Before I begin, I have to state copyrights etc.
I do not own Edward Elric or Alphonse Elric, or any related trademarks.
I do not own the concept of persocons/Chobits, or any related trademarks.
And I'll add more stuff as I use it.
This is a Fullmetal AlchemistxChobits fanfic (strange, yes, but it'll work, I think).
Unfortunately, this is a very short chapter. xP I currently have a cold and a terrible case of writer's block.

Chapter 1
-Plotting-
This world has become truly convenient, or so everyone says.
That seems to be thanks to 'personal computers' - the persocons.
After three years of searching for the nuclear bomb, Edward and Alphonse Elric return to London to find that there have been some technological changes, namely the appearance of persocons. The tale unfolds on a busy urban street ...
Edward and Alphonse Elric walked side by side down the street, looking sub-consciously into store windows. Even though they had only been gone for three years, everything had changed dramatically. Things were much more modern than they remembered, and fancy restraunts littered the streets. There were more people than they remembered as well, and they were all together with someone.
"Brother ..?" Alphonse said timidly.
"What is it, Al?" Ed asked in an almost exasperated voice. Al was nineteen, but still insisted on calling Ed 'brother'.
"Brother, there's a body in that window!" Al exclaimed suddenly, pointing accusingly at a rather high-tech looking shop.
"A ... body ..?" Ed turned to follow Al's finger, and sure enough, there was a female body in the window, dressed in strange clothing and as large as life.
"Is she dead, brother?"
Ed didn't bother to answer, but rather ran to the door, threw it open and slammed his palms down on the counter. "That girl in the window ... what did you do to her?!" Ed demanded, glaring at the confused shopkeeper.
"Are you kidding?" he replied. "Where have you been living for the last few years? It's a persocon, half-wit!"
Ed gritted his teeth. "This 'persocon' - what is it, exactly?" Al asked, cutting off his brother from saying something too crude to be written.
"It's a personal computer," she shop keeper explained. "It'll go on the internet, read your e-mails, take phone calls, clean, cook, even work a register. These new models ... they can really do anything!"
Ed turned his attention to the girl at the register. She was pretty - unnaturally so - and it hit him then that it was unnatural. The girl was one of these persocons! She was typing on a computer, and looked up at Ed, smiling softly.
The shopkeeper noticed Ed's interest in the persocon. "She is great, hmm? Just like a real person! Except for the ears." Indeed, the ears were definitely not human, but were more like triangular prisms. Even so, they were hardly noticable in the grand scheme. "That's were you insert the connector," the shopkeeper explained. "For checking data, etcetera."
Ed's mind began to race, and an idea sprung to life. A reminder of the childish dream he had once had. "And these persocons ... they're machines, right?"
"Well, yeah. Of course. Why?"
"Oh, no reason," Ed said offhandedly. He beckoned Al, who was inspecting what appeared to be one of the older models - it was on sale. "Let's go, Al."
"Coming, brother."
Back on the street, Al looked quizzically at his brother. "Brother, what are you planning?"
Ed looked around. Many of the people he saw were not really people at all, but persocons. There were very few humans who were with others - were persocons really all that great? It seemed to be that way.
He flashed his trademark grin. "Al, we're going to get our wish."
Al immediately had a vision of himself surrounded by cats. "Brother ... do you really mean it?!" he cried delightedly, a childish expression on his face.
"That's right, Al," Ed replied, looking down at the ground. "We're going to bring mom back. For real, this time."
