Unrealistic Gyn leaders?

I think it's enough to balance things out.You need to change the EXP gain too if you want higher leveled gym leaders cause the more higher our Pokemon levels are,the harder they gain EXP from the wild Pokemon.I mean,we always train first right before challenging a gym leader?Well,I don't know :)

The only gym leaders that seem "unrealistic" are the twins from Mossdeep(sp?). Not because of their Pokémon's levels but because of their age, what are they, twelve?

Surely the concept of anybody walking around with fire-breathing lizards and the like is unrealistic?

But yeah, they're designed in the interest of fairness. Perhaps they have extensive collections of pokes to use, and they bring out appropriately levelled ones depending on the challenger's progress in the gym challenge?

Falkner was just to early in the game to let him have lv 15 pokémon like Brock's onyx. =/ In RBY, LGFR, you had the Viridian forest to train, and the battle with Gary, who's pokemon were already trained. The ??? trainer in GSC's pokemon was not trained yet. And unless you fought billions of Sentret or Hoothoot, your pokemon would have about lvl 10 (for the starter) and 8 for a caught pokemon when you reached Violet City.

I don't think that is the reason that Nintendo did that. It is so that the 8th Kanto gym wouldn't have levle 100 Pokemon. If you notice there is a level curve for Gyms/Trainers on Routes in every game, with the gyms starting at about level 14 I think. GSC had to start lower so that the Gym leaders in Kanto wouldn't be overpowered. There is a whole thread on this in the Metal/Color Gen. Forum.

They are weak to match how weak you are and to be honest the anime is the same way.

The only Gym Leader with Level 10 Pokemon was Falkner, and I think all of the Gym Leaders in Gold/Silver/Crystal had quite low-leveled Pokemon...I think it was just the difficult of the game...

As for the others, I find that their levels are quite balanced. I can gain 5 levels on all my Pokemon between Gym Leaders in Diamond and Pearl, and I'm sure I could do the same in LeafGreen. I guess it's just the way it's set up. :P

I totally agree...the gym leaders help me no matter what level they are for some reason! ':D
