[Pokémon] Untitled FanFic

Okay after the super exciting chapters before, 16 will be more mellow, but it introduces a few minor issues revolving around new character Lacie and a future major event (start getting stoked!!)!! xD

Anyways.... Enjoy!

Chapter 16: Explanations and Plans

A knock on a door.

The girl groaned, displeased with her slumber being disturbed. She threw a pillow at the door in protest, then immediately regretting the action.

"Lacie, come on. Get up." A voice spoke from the other side of the door, followed by more door knocking.

Lacie flung herself out of the bed and crossed the room to the door. She opened it reluctantly and found herself face to face with Karla and Storm.

I don't know how they can be so perky. Those criminals got away!

"About time you showed your face." Karla greeted her with almost nauseating happiness.

"Everyone wants to know what happened back in Eterna Forest. Its been two days since we got here and you're the only one who hasn't dished on what happened, so its your turn."

Lacie rubbed her eyes, quickly regretting that as a smear of black came out on her hand from old eye makeup.

"Do I have to?" Lacie asked, seeming bored and tired.

"Yes. Now hurry up and get dressed. We aren't leaving until you come with us." Storm answered, crossing her arms.

Two days had passed since the now larger group arrived in Eterna City after the battle in the forest. Storm, Karla and Max, along with new temporary additions to the group Jazz, Cain and Lacie, had agreed to try to understand each others motives for being in the forest. Jazz and Cain already explained themselves (just traveling through the forest to get to Eterna City so they could head up to Mt Coronet), Storm, Karla and Max explained that they were headed to the Eterna City Gym, the only one left was the odd bird Lacie.

Lacie nodded and allowed them to come into her temporary room. She walked over to her heavy military style bag and started searching for clean clothes. She found what she was looking for and pulled it out of the bag, then stalked over to the bathroom to change.

As soon as the door clicked shut, Storm spoke.

"I'm interested in hearing what she has to say. I've never met anyone from a Dragon Tamer clan before."

Karla smiled slightly, "Dragon Tamers are not all like what Mars said. They are very traditional and have set customs, but they are also some of the best trainers in the world as well as Pokémon Rangers. I met one when he came to visit Professor Rowan about a year after I started working for him. He gave a weird egg to the Professor and said it would help him with his evolution research, then he left."

"Aren't there a whole bunch of different clans?" Storm asked. She was clueless when it came to Dragon-types and Dragon Tamers.

"There are four clans. Originally there was one, but after a small conflict, the five clans, that are still around today, were created. There's the Kanto-Johto Clan, the Hoenn Clan, the Sinnoh Clan and the Isshu Clan." Karla explained.

Lacie came out of the bathroom at that moment, wearing completely different attire then what everyone was accustomed to seeing her in. She wore a navy blue, knee length kimono with a shiny black sash tied around her waist. The sleeves of the kimono went down to her elbows and were replaced by long gloves that did not cover her fingers. She had black tights on with simple black flats on her feet. Her once wild white-blonde hair was now brushed and pulled into a loose bun with a shiny black ribbon.

"The clans are on extremely good terms, considering what most people believe. We still have ceremonies where all the clans gather to celebrate certain traditions such as the rise of a new elder or marriages. Then for other occasions, two clans will meet to discuss things such as protection of Dragon-types, or marriage compatibility battles for two clan members." Lacie froze at the end of her sentence, as if she said something she knew she shouldn't have.

"Are you okay?" Storm asked, putting a hand on the scared stiff girl.

Lacie blinked a few times and shook her head.

She walked silently over to the bed and sat down, looking down at her feet solemnly.

"What's wrong?" Karla asked, sitting next to her.

"We're all friends now so you can trust us." Storm lightly pushed Lacie.

Lacie shook her head, "It's the bloody clan custom… I hate it."

Storm thought about it for a moment and said, "The one about marriage compatibility?"

Lacie shuddered and nodded. "Its tradition for clans to pick one girl, or one boy, to battle against a person, of the opposite gender, from a different clan to see if they are compatible for marriage. In a few weeks, I have to battle."

"You have to?"

"Yes. I don't want to lose my freedom and marriage will steal that from me. I don't even know who I'm facing!" Lacie slammed her hand into her thigh.

"Can't you decline to battle or reschedule?" Karla asked, eyes wide with pity.

"I tried. My grandfather said I couldn't but he asked the Johto clan elders to pick their most suitable man for me to battle." Lacie smirked. "Grandfather always said I got my battling skills from him, while my three brothers battle more like my pacifist grandmother".

"Your Grandfather must have a lot of faith in you." Storm said. She was reminded of how her father always said she would be strong like him.

"He does. The man pratically raised me watching battles he had against people who challenged him at the Hoenn League. It was really inspiring; I still want to be able to do that."

"Your grandfather was a member of the Hoenn Elite Four?" Storm asked.

"Still is. One of the longest serving Elite Four members in the world; next to Agatha over in Kanto and Bertha here in Sinnoh."

"That's impressive!" Karla exclaimed.

"He has only been defeated three times. The current Champion, Wallace, my best friend and I were the only people to ever defeat him, but they were hard fought wins for all of us." Lacie explained.

"Wow. That's amazing!"

Lacie smiled lightly and stood up from the bed.

"Shall we go to the others?" she asked, throwing friendly glances with her pink/purple eyes.

The two younger girls followed her out of the room.

….

"Okay, Lacie, explain why you were in Eterna Forest." Cain asked, staring at her from across the table.

All eyes were on the blonde haired girl, who took a deep breath and began to explain.

"I suppose I should start at why I came to Sinnoh… It was a direct order from the Grand Elder of the Hoenn Dragon Tamer Clan.

"A request from the Sinnoh clan came in two years ago, on Thursday morning, asking my clan to send an available clan member to help track down a group of criminals, known as Team Galactic, for descimating a group of infant Gible, taking several Gible with them for undetermined reasons. My grandfather, one of the elders of the Hoenn clan, suggested that I go because it will prove my abilities as a future clan elder and future wife of another Dragon Tamer; simply, proving my worth.

"The High Elder ordered me to come to Sinnoh and track down the criminals behind the incident. It wasn't until I arrived here and spoke to the elders that I discovered the incident occurred six weeks earlier and they had not been able to find the culprits, so they contacted the Hoenn clan in order to have the best 'detective' find the group responsible for the infant Gible slaughter; the person being me.

"I was taken to the site of the incident and discovered a lone Gible with severe scarring on its body and stricken with extreme malnourishment. The Sinnoh Elder, Roberta that helped me for the first week I was here, told me to care for the Gible, so I took it in and trained it.

"After that, I followed all sightings of the criminal organization Team Galactic across the region, it took me awhile to find them because before the infant Gible incident, the original leader of the group, a man by the man of Cyrus, had mysteriously vanished on top of Mount Coronet, leaving his three commanders, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, to take over for him. There was a period of three months where Team Galactic did not exist, until one of the commanders made a power play and took over the organization. From what was displayed in the forest, I'm certain that Mars is not the leader. The grunt with the Toxicroak seemed to intimidate her, and in case you could not hear, she took an order from him about their escape. I think that grunt was actually her boss in disguise."

Lacie took a sip of water from the glass that sat in front of her, then pulled a notebook over from the corner of the table and opened it. She turned several pages in and set the notebook down in the middle of the table for everyone to see.

"This is a timeline I constructed, starting from when Cyrus disappeared on Mount Coronet to the incident two days ago. I labeled certain dates and periods of time with numbers that link to numbered notes about events that occurred on those specified dates."

"Impressive work, Lacie. Now how exactly did you end up in the forest?" Max asked.

"A week ago, I received a tip from someone saying that Team Galactic was illegally transporting kidnapped Pokémon through Eterna Forest. For a few days before I actually arrived at the forest, I had my Swablu fly through to look for suspicious activity. Sure enough, by the third day Swablu had found those criminals, but they weren't transporting Pokemom, they were transporting machine parts.

"I arrived at Eterna Forest to hunt them down and stop them, but then Cain and Jazz," Lacie put a hint of venom in Jazz's name, "showed up and things went from there."

"So that's it?" Cain asked, "You told me you were here because you were looking for Dragon-types."

"That was a year ago; I didn't want anyone else getting involved." Lacie answered, taking another sip of water.

A frantic, buzzing sound split the silence that followed, startling everyone. Lacie whipped out a small object and flipped it open.

"This is Lacie." She answered.

The voice on the other end of the call was of an elderly sounding woman that still had plenty of life left in her.

"Ah Lacie, didn't think you'd answer so quick!" the woman spoke through the phone call.

"Of course I would, Elder Alexandra."

The table remained quiet, eavesdropping on the conversation.

"Your grandfather told me you were in Eterna City today. Mind if I pay a visit?" Elder Alexandra asked.

"Of course not, Elder. I am at the Pokémon Center with some friends." Lacie answered, a smile appearing on her pale lips.

"I'll see you in less than an hour then dear, so good bye for now."

"Good bye Elder." Lacie said. She hung up and looked at everyone else.

"What was that about?" Karla asked.

"One of the Hoenn Elders is here in Sinnoh and she wants to speak to me. Its probably about my future plans or whatever." Lacie explained, brushing off the front of her kimono even though there was nothing on it.

She sat down and watched everyone.

"So Storm, are you challenging the gym?" Jazz asked, finally speaking.

"In two hours. The gym doesn't open until noon." Storm explained.

"You and Cain are headed off to eastern Mount Coronet, right?" Karla asked Jazz.

Cain and Jazz both shook their heads, "Not anymore." Jazz said. Cain finished what she was going to say, "Since you all are looking after Shaymin and we were asked by the Pokémon Ranger Headquarters to help you guys get it home, we get to stick with you all".

Max burst out of his seat, "Awesome! I'm not going to be the only guy around!"

Everyone stared at him.

Max sat down quietly, quickly grabbing his soda and drinking it down as fast as he could.

"Lacie, what about you?" Cain asked.

"I'll be staying here until the end of the week, and then I'll be heading out to train more before my battle." Lacie explained, looking solemn again.

"We'll be rooting for you!" Karla said, raising her glass of Pecha Berry juice.

"If you get to Veilstone City at the end of October, you can see the battle for yourselves. Think of it as learning how Dragon clans determine marriages, though I'm still hoping to get out of mine." Lacie muttered the last part.

"So two months from now, be in Veilstone. Sounds like a plan, though we were planning on hitting Veilstone a long time from now." Storm laughed.

"Well if you come down from Snowpoint City on the east side of the mountain, you can get to Veilstone, then backtrack a little to get to Solaceon Town. After that, head south to Hearthome City. From there you can get to Pastoria, catch a boat to Canalave and then get another boat to Sunyshore. Simple!" Cain explained, making everyone think he had a map built into his head.

"Sounds like a plan!" Storm said cheerfully.

------

However they weren't the only ones making plans…

In the dark conference room, Mars, Pluto, and Charon sat at the table, looking shame-faced.

The boss entered the room and sat at the head of the table.

"Have you done what I asked, Charon?" the boss spoke.

Charon stood up, slightly shocked and fiddled with a remote. He pressed a button and a screen dropped from the ceiling. "I have, sir. I compiled data on all of the people who attempted to thwart our plans in Eterna Forest." He pressed another button and a presenter came to life, immediately showing Storm's face and information on the screen.

"This young lady is becoming quite the pest, along with her two companions." He flipped the button once, showing Karla's information, and a second time to show Max's information.

"But this time, they weren't the problems. The two girls who faced off against you and Mars were new faces along with the older boy the cameras caught on the ledge." Charon pressed the button again, this time the file was on a girl with blonde hair.

"Her name is Lacie Hollow, twenty-one, member of the Hoenn Dragon Tamer clan. Hometown is Mossdeep City. Nothing else on her except a few recruitments by the Pokémon Rangers, and one attempt of almost defeating the Hoenn Champion three years ago." Charon read off.

He flipped the button again and a girl with glasses. "Her name is Jazz Adamson, nineteen, retired Pokémon Ranger. Hometown is Azalea Town in Johto. Has a few gold stars for effort, no reprimands or anything."

Charon hit the button once more and a young man with wild brown hair appeared on the screen. "His name is Cain Adamson, nineteen, Pokémon Ranger. Apparently his twin sister was the girl with glasses. Hometown is also Azalea Town in Johto. Awarded honor of Top Ranger six years ago, another gold star covered Pokémon Ranger."

"That is probably why they were so much trouble." The boss commented.

"I believe blondie knows more about us than she's letting on. She knew I led the mission to remove the Gible from the south side of Mount Coronet. She could be more trouble than the others by herself." Mars added, resting her head on her hands.

Pluto giggled and fell silent.

"We have to get that Shaymin from them. It's the only way our plan will work. That Shaymin is special, they just don't realize it yet." The boss said, walking over to the window that was shielded with heavy black blinds. He peeked through them, letting in blinding light.

"Charon how is Project SX-5039 coming along?" the boss asked, snapping the blinds shut and stalking back over to the table.

"Completed yesterday afternoon, sir. All ten tests were successful even without the parts from Eterna Forest." Charon explained.

"Good…"

"Sir, what is our next step?" Mars asked.

"At the end of the week we all will meet up with Jupiter on Mount Coronet." The boss faced his underlings with a serious stare. "This time, those children will not succeed in stopping us."
