It all depends... But in normal cases, I would take under the ground.
If I get to be with a number of other people up in the sky, and if it is in a sky city or castle, heck yes I'll live up in the sky. Specially after I'm inspired by Sol City in the game "Boktai", I WILL do that. XD
If I'm with only a few of people, or totally alone, and it's just realistic, then ground would be a better option, because I could get up over the ground for food or anything else.
