Summary : There is a love interest. There are no Pokémon (Yet). Bang. You got a story.
OT: Sorry if the text seems too small, but this is size 2. Size 3 looks too big. I've had this problem twice now since copying in things from MS Word. This is my first attempt at a romance and like my other topic, this is like a teaser chapter which will set the rest of the story in motion. However this story will be taking a backseat to "Natural Evolution". And I'm almost sure I've gotten in trouble with the tenses again but I'm way too tired to correct it right now. Feedback would be lovely!

Use Your Charms
Chapter 1: Out of the Frying Pan...
- - -
"And just who can tell me where Brazil is located on the map?"
Urgh, her annoyingly shrilly voice isn't doing my ears any favours. I always hated this classroom too. It had so much wood everywhere it felt more like a ski cabin. Why the hell would you decorate a school like this? None of the other rooms are as horrible as this one.
"Hmm let's see… Let's pick someone who hasn't answered yet…"
I couldn't concentrate in this class. I hate geography. Why do I care if the rivers are eroding? Why should I give a toss about how meanders are formed? It's all a bunch of useless drivel if you ask me. I suppose it doesn't help that I get to sit diagonally behind the most beautiful girl in school. Some times I just wish I could rip open her—
"Josh! Can you please tell us the answer to this question?"
I gulped. She was giving me a patronising look down her long nose, I hated it. I could feel everyone looking at me, just waiting to screw up. Even that girl was looking at me. I wasn't sure what I was meant to do. I noticed my hands were shaking as I went to pick up my pen. I dropped it on the floor and everyone started shrieking with laughter.
"Well?"
I could feel the blood draining from my face. I had to give some sort of answer, I didn't want to look like an idiot now did I?
"Uhh… Europe?"
The entire class broke into laughter once more and MissBridge was not smiling at all. She folded her arms and waited for the rest of her arms to be quiet. That was her thing. She was a scary teacher, when she folded her arms that meant you had to sit up and shut up. The last person to do so would get given detention if she's in her time of month. She was a complete and utter—
"I ask you to locate Brazil on a map and you tell me the answer is… Europe?"
There was silence in the class. I nervously looked over to Maria, she looked so beautiful today. I looked back to MissBridge and then to Maria who was doing the usual act of pretending I don't exist. She never notices me. I looked back to Miss Bridge.
"Yes. That's exactly what I did."
"I'll tell you what Josh. Until I can find a way to stick all the answers on the back of Maria's head you can spend the rest of the lesson doing your work outside on the floor. Next time, actually concentrate in my class. Is that clear?"
I didn't want to look up. I stared at the floor hoping the entire world would melt away. My shoes wouldn't yell at me, I think I'd rather stare at them.
"Look at me!"
I had to look up. I don't know why she didn't just shoot me in the head rather than make me bleed to death slowly.
"Is that clear?"
"Yes."
"Yes what?"
"Yes, Miss."
I got up, grabbing my things and walking out of the door hurryingly. Without another word she slammed the door in my face and continued to teach the class as if nothing had ever happened. I checked my watch. Luckily for me, the class is practically over. I packed my stuff into my bag and started doodling on my hand. I had already drawn all over my arm trying to do a portrait of Maria. I hope I don't get ink poisoning because of that.
The bell rang and everyone started filing out of the class room. I stood waiting outside the door, no doubt Miss ***** would want to give me an extra word or two before going home to eat her husband. I got a few pats on the back from the guys in class, they can relate.
"Why were you looking at me?"
Oh God. It was Maria. What the hell am I supposed to say? Hey Maria you look smoking hot and I wanna be on that. No! No that's not what I should say! Umm, Hey Maria. Your boobies look nice today. OH GOD! Why the hell is this happening to me? I could feel my mouth getting dryer as it had opened as soon as she started talking to me. Come on Josh you have to say something, she's going to think you're weird. Er.
"Oh umm… I wasn't."
"You weren't?"
"Nope, definitely not haha. No way was I looking at you."
"Oh. Well… Okay."
I thought I heard a disappointing tone in her voice at the end. Do something! Now! Now—No. Wait. Calm down. Take a deep breath. You had a hiccup. Once you gain some confidence you can make-up for today by wooing her off her feet. Yeah, as if I'll ever get my confidence back. That reminded me; I quickly took my school homework diary out of my chest pocket and flicked back to the calendar. I looked at all the dates that had been scribbled out. I sighed as I went through the routine. I checked for today's date. It said:
'Say Hello to Her!!'
I scribbled it out just like all the others. I put it back in my pocket when I realised there was someone tapping on the floor behind me. I should've known. I turned round to see Miss Bridge standing there with her satchel bag packed, jacket in hand. She walked up to me slowly.
"Josh. Your grades have been slipping. You've said before that you hate geography! Why are you even in my class?"
"Well, umm… I like history so I thought geography would be good too."
"Don't play the fool with me Josh. I know why you're in my class and I don't like it."
"What?!"
"You know what! I'll see you tomorrow after school. You've got detention."
God. I really do feel sorry for anyone who has to live with that woman. I walked down the long halls, listening to the sound of my own footsteps echoing all around the narrow corridors. I reached the front doors and walked out just in time to see Maria take her place on the school bus. I stood there, just admiring her. There was nothing about her that I didn't like. The way she brushed her hair back, the way she walks, her soft voice… She's looking at me. Uhh, keep walking Josh. You weren't staring at her at all, were you? No sir! Didn't think so! The bus started to drive away and I took one last look as she was escorted down the hill. I sighed and began my long journey home. I thought to myself, I should really stop letting the fact that she gets the bus stop me from taking it as well. I'll probably be late for dinner again.
