Well today I went to Gamestop and I saw both Emerald and Ruby ($29.99 & $19.99). I wanted to get Emerald but the cover of the cartridge was just messed up, and I love Emerald's cartridge cover. then I was like okay I'll get Ruby, it looks brand new, but Emerald is better (battle frontier, both kyogre/groudon, yada yada)! In the end, I left empty-handed :(. Now I wish I would have got Emerald or Ruby, but no me and my pickiness. My reason for not getting it makes me feel pretty dumb xD. Does anyone else do this when they buy used games? Is this some kind of fetish?

It makes me feel better when it has a case and is shiny =P OCD? It really doesn't matter but if I was in your case, I would have chose Ruby, only because it's 10 dollars cheaper =)

You could jsut get the pokemon from other people =P

nah I'm with you OP. I wont touch second hand things if they don't look like new. I don't care how well the cartridge works or how little it costs. Things must look perfect >:C

I'm not that OCD about it, but I don't go for carts that look messed up. They just need to look normal. I hate trying to get the used stickers off carts though. On my Red cart the back is all sticky -__- I got it off of almost all my other carts but THAT one.

It's a used game, I just hope to god it works (last week I got a used game that didn't work but I got to exchange it for another used game that does work).

Very stupid. As long as the game works, then everything else doesn't matter. That's the whole point. >_<'

My first soldiering activity was to fix my screwed guitar amp cable. You think it's looking pretty? Hell no. You think it's working great? Hell yeah.

Well, I bought a used DS, but I wasn't really happy with it when walking out of EB Games. But, I put my BRAND NEW (I'm not that cheap :P) SS game in, and I just forgot all about it's quality. But, sometimes, I think to myself 'Did I really do the right thing with my money?'.

go back and get one. they're apparently very rare. in game traders (game shop near me) they have a used fire red for $99. and ruby, sapphire, and leaf green for the price of D/P/Pt.

but usually it depends with me. If I know I can find a newer looking one, then i won't get it. but if i had been looking for it for ages, i'd get it.

ya im really picky about buying used things. they have to be in fairly good condition for me to buy them. i just like my stuff to be nice looking

I just got 3 used ps2 games, they are awesome
All i do is check the discs for scratches

Yes, I would do that, but at the game store I use keeps the games in a big file cabinet, so you can't check them. But I supposed when you get the game you can check for scratches.

I would have done the same thing. When I re-started pokemon last year, I had the choice between Diamond and Platinum, and I bought Diamond because it was cheaper and came in the original case. I have since regretted it. I wish I would have bought Platinum, because I won't go back and buy the same generation over again. If Emerald was messed up, I would have said, "That's too bad. I'll just wait till I go to the next store and hope to find it there." In fact, that very thing happened to me today. I had the opportunity to get Sapphire in its original box for $20, but I passed it up because it wasn't Emerald.

I don't really mind if there used, as round where I live there are a lot of carboot sales which sell the games off for £2.50 each, and even though they don't come in a box, they still work perfectly. So this saved me around £40 as on Amazon used ones are around £20.

I bought ruby for 8 euro. That translates to 10 dollars off ebay. Im european but it's the North American box and cart. The box is a little dented and like 40 pages of the book are missing (wtf? rofl) but the cart works great. In Ireland it's impossible to buy old school games in the game shops anymore, no one is interested,it's a shame really. My Aron is my favourite pokemon that thing is a defensive monster! Tackle hits like 1 on him.

I'm not bothered or annoyed by used items. Almost all the time, I'm just getting a cheaper version of the brand new thing :P So it's all cool
